Language identification using spectral and prosodic features

open access: yes, 2015
This book discusses the impact of spectral features extracted from frame level, glottal closure regions, and pitch-synchronous analysis on the performance of language identification systems.

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

PD-Net: Parkinson’s Disease Detection Through Fusion of Two Spectral Features Using Attention-Based Hybrid Deep Neural Network

open access: yesInformation
Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a progressive degenerative brain disease that worsens with age, causing areas of the brain to weaken. Vocal dysfunction often emerges as one of the earliest and most prominent indicators of Parkinson’s disease, with a ...

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

Longitudinal circulating tumor DNA profiling in patients with advanced endometrial cancer using an off‐the‐shelf targeted NGS panel

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Intratumour heterogeneity complicates precision management of advanced endometrial cancer. Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) offers a minimally invasive strategy to capture tumor evolution and therapeutic resistance. Here, we compare tumor‐agnostic NGS with tumor‐informed ddPCR, outlining their relative sensitivity, concordance, and clinical implications ...

Multi-Source Remote Sensing Data-Driven Susceptibility Mapping of Retrogressive Thaw Slumps in the Yangtze River Source Region

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Despite the ecological sensitivity of the Yangtze River Source Region (YRSR), the current research critically lacks a quantified assessment of the spatial occurrence probability of Retrogressive Thaw Slumps (RTSs) in this specific high-altitude terrain ...

Metastasis on pause: How dormant tumor cells stay hidden within the tumor microenvironment and evade immune surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

Modern spectral analysis in HF radar remote sensing. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
High-Frequency (HF) radar systems are currently used to collect wave data. By applying spectral analysis methods, such as the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) method, to the radar backscatter from the ocean surface, the so-called Doppler spectrum is ...

Clinical performance of the urine‐based TERT promoter AbsoluteQ Digital PCR for non‐invasive detection of bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A urine‐based digital PCR assay targeting two hotspot TERT promoter variants detected bladder cancer with high sensitivity and no false positives in this case–control cohort. The streamlined AbsoluteQ workflow outperformed Sanger sequencing and supports non‐invasive molecular testing for bladder cancer detection.

Microscopic Experimental Study on the Crystallization of TBAB-CO2 Hydrate

open access: yes, 2019
TBAB semi-clathrate hydrate has a huge potential for effective application of carbon dioxide (CO2) capture. Because of the complexity of the crystal structure, the kinetics of TBAB hydrate remains poorly understood.
