Optomechanical mass spectrometry [PDF]

open access: yesNature Communications, 2020
AbstractNanomechanical mass spectrometry has proven to be well suited for the analysis of high mass species such as viruses. Still, the use of one-dimensional devices such as vibrating beams forces a trade-off between analysis time and mass resolution.

Analyze Mass Spectrometry data with Artificial Intelligence to assist the understanding of past habitability of Mars and provide insights for future missions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
This paper presents an application of artificial intelligence on mass spectrometry data for detecting habitability potential of ancient Mars. Although data was collected for planet Mars the same approach can be replicated for any terrestrial object of our solar system.

Prospects in Analytical Atomic Spectrometry [PDF]

open access: yesRussian Chemical Reviews, v. 75, pp. 289-302 (2006). [Translated from Uspekhi Khimii, v. 75, pp. 322-338 (2006)], 2006
Tendencies in five main branches of atomic spectrometry (absorption, emission, mass, fluorescence and ionization spectrometry) are considered. The first three techniques are the most widespread and universal, with the best sensitivity attributed to atomic mass spectrometry.

Native Mass Spectrometry and Nucleic Acid G-Quadruplex Biophysics: Advancing Hand in Hand [PDF]

open access: yesAccounts of Chemical Research, 2021, 54 (19), pp.3691-3699, 2023
While studying nucleic acids to reveal the weak interactions responsible for their three-dimensional structure and for their interactions with drugs, we also contributed to the field of biomolecular mass spectrometry, both in terms of fundamental understanding and with new methodological developments.

Advanced simulation code for alpha spectrometry [PDF]

open access: yesNucl.Instrum.Meth. A550 (2005) 425, 2005
A Monte Carlo code, known as AASI, is developed for simulating energy spectra in alpha spectrometry. The code documented here is a comprehensive package where all the major processes affecting the spectrum are included. A unique feature of the code is its ability to take into account coincidences between the particles emitted from the source ...

Optical Mass Spectrometry of Cold $\mathrm{RaOH}^+$ and ${\mathrm{RaOCH}_3}^+$ [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. Lett. 126, 023002 (2021), 2020
We present an all-optical mass spectrometry technique to identify trapped ions. The new method uses laser-cooled ions to determine the mass of a cotrapped dark ion with a sub-dalton resolution within a few seconds. We apply the method to identify the first controlled synthesis of cold, trapped $\mathrm{RaOH}^+$ and ${\mathrm{RaOCH}_3}^+$.

Correlation Time-of-flight Spectrometry of Ultracold Neutrons [PDF]

open access: yesInstrum Exp.Tech.53:635-643,2010, 2010
The fearures of the correlation method used in time-of-flight spectrometry of ultracold neutrons are analyzed. The time-of-flight spectrometer for the energy range of ultracold neutrons is described, and results of its testing by measuring spectra of neutrons passing through interference filters are presented.

Towards data-driven mass spectrometry in atmospheric science [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Aerosols found in the atmosphere affect the climate and worsen air quality. To mitigate these adverse impacts, aerosol formation and aerosol chemistry in the atmosphere need to be better mapped out and understood. Currently, mass spectrometry is the single most important analytical technique in atmospheric chemistry and is used to track and identify ...

Advanced Mass Calibration and Visualization for FT-ICR Mass Spectrometry Imaging [PDF]

open access: yesJ Am Soc Mass Spectrom. 2012 Nov;23(11):1865-72. Epub 2012 Aug 28, 2013
Mass spectrometry imaging by Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance yields hundreds of unique peaks, many of which cannot be resolved by lower performance mass spectrometers. The high mass accuracy and high mass resolving power allow confident identification of small molecules and lipids directly from biological tissue sections.

Mass spectrometry for semi-experimental protein structure determination and modeling [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
The structure of proteins is essential for its function. The determination of protein structures is possible by experimental or predicted by computational methods, but also a combination of both approaches is possible. Here, first an overview about experimental structure determination methods with their pros and cons is given. Then we describe how mass
