Electrospray ionization mass spectrometry of metalloporphyrins

Journal of Mass Spectrometry, 1998
The magnesium, nickel, copper, zinc and vanadium metalloporphyrins from octaethylporphyrin, etioporphyrin I and tetraphenylporphyrin were characterized using electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS). The ion abundance of each of the porphyrins present in binary mixtures was monitored as a function of the porphyrin concentration and is ...

[21] Electrospray ionization mass spectrometry

1996
Publisher Summary An electrospray ionization source operating at atmospheric pressure was first interfaced to a mass spectrometer in Fenn's laboratory at Yale University (New Haven, CT), with inspiration taken from earlier ion-stopping potential studies, using electrospray ionization conducted by Mack et al .

Electrospray Ionization Mass Spectrometry: A Powerful Platform for Noble-Metal Nanocluster Analysis.

Angewandte Chemie, 2019
Electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) is an analytical technique that measures the mass of a sample through "soft" ionization. Recent years have witnessed a rapid growth of its application in noble-metal nanocluster (NC) analysis.

[22] Electrospray ionization mass spectrometry

1990
Publisher Summary This chapter discusses electrospray ionization mass spectrometry. Electrospray ionization (ESI) occurs during the electrostatic nebulization of a solution of charged analyte ions by a large electrostatic field gradient (approximately 3 kV/cm). Highly charged droplets are formed in a dry bath gas, at near atmospheric pressure.

Miniaturization of Electrospray Ionization Mass Spectrometry

Applied Spectroscopy Reviews, 2003
1. Abstract The development of electrospray ionization (ESI) has proved an enormous breakthrough in structural biology because it provides a means for transferring large biological molecules into the gas-phase as intact charged ions. In the post-genomics era, increased attention has been focused on mass spectrometry techniques capable of providing ...

Arc-Induced Electrospray Ionization Mass Spectrometry

Analytical Chemistry, 2023
Arc-induced electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (AESI-MS) was developed during which alternating current electrospray is simply achieved through the arc plasma. The AESI source exploits the arc's temperature and charge properties to generate aerosols consisting of charged microdroplets.

Electrochemical processes in electrospray ionization mass spectrometry

Journal of Mass Spectrometry, 2000
Editorial Comment Last month we presented, as a Special Feature, a set of five articles that constituted a Commentary on the fundamentals and mechanism of electrospray ionization (ESI). These articles produced some lively discussion among the authors on the role of electrochemistry in ESI.

Electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry of chaetoglobosins

Rapid Communications in Mass Spectrometry, 2012
RATIONALEChaetoglobosins are a family of macrocyclic polyketide alkaloids. They possess many similar isomers and exhibit a wide range of biological activities. Thus, there is a need for reliable, fast, and low‐cost analysis of this class of compounds.METHODSA series of seven chaetoglobosins from Chaetomium globosum, including two types of isomers, were

Surfactants Usable for Electrospray Ionization Mass Spectrometry

Analytical Biochemistry, 2000
Surfactants suppress the electrospray ionization (ESI) of various compounds. Here we demonstrate that fluorinated surfactants such as perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOSA) could be employed for ESI-MS without a significant decrease in sensitivity.

Electrospray ionization mass spectrometry fingerprinting of beer

The Analyst, 2005
After just simple degassing, dilution, pH adjustment and direct flow injection, characteristic fingerprint spectra of beer samples have been obtained by fast (few seconds) electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) analysis in both the negative and positive ion modes.
