Spectroscopic Method for Measuring Plasma Magnetic Fields Having Arbitrary Distributions of Direction and Amplitude

Physical Review Letters, 2007
An approach for measurements of magnetic fields, based on the comparison of the magnetic-field-induced contributions to the line shapes of different fine-structure components of an atomic multiplet, is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. Contrary to the methods based on detecting an anisotropy in either the emitted radiation or in the dispersion ...

Determination of two-nucleon spectroscopic amplitudes from (d,α) analyzing powers

Physical Review C, 1985
Tensor and vector analyzing powers and cross sections have been measured for low-lying levels populated by the sup89Y(d,..cap alpha..) sup87Sr reaction at 9.0, 12.0, and 16.0 MeV. Angular distributions of dsigma/d..cap omega.., Asuby, Asubyy, Asubxx, and Asubxz have been analyzed using full finite-range distorted-wave Born approximation calculations ...

An approximate method for calculating mean amplitudes of vibration from spectroscopic data—II

Spectrochimica Acta, 1959
Abstract A refinement of Morino's approximate formula for mean square amplitudes due to harmonic vibrations in polyatomic molecules is given. Approximate formulae with four terms, based upon a four-constant approximation for the hyperbolic cotangent, are evaluated. The method may be applied for ranges of vibrational frequencies up to about 3000 cm −1
