A Raman spectral marker for the iso‐octyl chain structure of cholesterol

open access: yesAnalytical Science Advances
Raman spectroscopy provides label‐free, specific analysis of biomolecular structure and interactions. It could have a greater impact with improved characterization of complex fingerprint vibrations. Many Raman peaks have been assigned to cholesterol, for

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Influence of non-thermal maturity factors on laser Raman spectroscopy of highly to overmature shale: a case study of Lower Paleozoic marine shale in southern Sichuan Basin

open access: yesShiyou shiyan dizhi
Laser Raman spectroscopy has become increasingly prevalent in assessing the thermal maturity of ancient marine shale due to its advantages of simple sample preparation, easy operation, and non-destructive analysis.

Detection of early osteogenic commitment in primary cells using Raman spectroscopy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Major challenges in the development of novel implant surfaces for artificial joints include osteoblast heterogeneity and the lack of a simple and sensitive in vitro assay to measure early osteogenic responses.

Near‐Infrared Emitting Lanthanide Catecholate Giant Single Crystals – Morphology Control and Photon Down‐Conversion

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Controlled syntheses of lanthanide coordination polymers based on the dihydroxybenzoquinone (DHBQ) organic linker afforded large single crystals of Ln‐DHBQ CPs (Ln = Yb, Nd). A novel structural variant of Yb‐DHBQ is identified by means of single crystal diffraction analysis.

Quantitative Analysis of Hydrogenated DLC Films by Visible Raman Spectroscopy

open access: yes, 2006
The correlations between properties of hydrogenated diamond like carbon films and their Raman spectra have been investigated. The films are prepared by plasma deposition technique, keeping different hydrogen to methane ratio during the growth process ...

Confocal Raman data analysis enables identifying apoptosis of MCF-7 cells caused by anticancer drug paclitaxel [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Confocal Raman microscopy is a noninvasive, label-free imaging technique used to study apoptosis of live MCF-7 cells. The images are based on Raman spectra of cells components, and their apoptosis is monitored through diffusion of cytochrome c in ...
