Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Confirmation of the detection of B-modes in the Planck polarization maps

open access: yes, 2018
One of the main problems for extracting the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) from submm/mm observations is to correct for the Galactic components, mainly synchrotron, free - free and thermal dust emission with the required accuracy.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Baryonic Symmetries in AdS4/CFT3: An Overview

open access: yesAdvances in High Energy Physics, 2011
Global symmetries play an important role in classifying the spectrum of a gauge theory. In the context of the AdS/CFT duality, global baryon-like symmetries are specially interesting.

The Eddy Diffusivity in Barotropic β-Plane Turbulence

open access: yesFluids, 2017
Geostrophic turbulent eddies play a crucial role in the oceans, mixing properties such as heat, salt, and geochemical tracers. A useful reduced model for geostrophic turbulence is barotropic (2D) turbulence. The focus of this study is on 2D β -plane

Argumentation of filter width selection with the use of envelope spectrum in vibration diagnostics of rotary machine defects

open access: yesVESTNIK of Samara University. Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering, 2020
The paper shows certain ambiguity of the narrow-band boundary of random processes obtained by different authors. The use of filters of different widths in obtaining the envelope spectrum makes it difficult to compare the obtained results by estimating the depth of amplitude modulation in vibration diagnostics of defects in rotary machines.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Trends and Perspectives on Digital Platforms and Digital Television in Europe| Fragility and Empowerment: Community Television in the Digital Era

open access: yesInternational Journal of Communication, 2022
The advent of television technologies has significantly restructured the context within which community television producers operate. Digital technologies have undercut “spectrum scarcity” arguments for limiting access to distribution platforms and ...

Gaussian free fields at the integer quantum Hall plateau transition

open access: yesNuclear Physics B, 2017
In this work we put forward an effective Gaussian free field description of critical wavefunctions at the transition between plateaus of the integer quantum Hall effect.

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These
