Energy-Efficient Power Adaptation for Cognitive Radio Systems under Imperfect Channel Sensing

open access: yes, 2014
In this paper, energy efficient power adaptation is considered in sensing-based spectrum sharing cognitive radio systems in which secondary users first perform channel sensing and then initiate data transmission with two power levels based on the sensing

Overview of spectrum sensing for cognitive radio

open access: yes2010 2nd International Workshop on Cognitive Information Processing, 2010
We present a survey of state-of-the-art algorithms for spectrum sensing in cognitive radio. The algorithms discussed range from energy detection to sophisticated feature detectors. The feature detectors that we present all have in common that they exploit some known structure of the transmitted signal.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Resource Allocation for Two-Way Relay Network Based on Cognitive Radio

open access: yesDianxin kexue, 2015
The resource allocation issue for sensing-based spectrum opportunistic access and sensing-based spectrum sharing access in two-way relay cognitive network with imperfect spectrum sensing was discussed.Different from the traditional resource allocation ...

Cooperative Spectrum Sensing Schemes with the Interference Constraint in Cognitive Radio Networks

open access: yesSensors, 2014
In this paper, we propose cooperative spectrum sensing schemes, called decode-and-forward cooperative spectrum sensing (DF-CSS) scheme and amplify-and-forward cooperative spectrum sensing (AF-CSS) scheme, in cognitive radio networks.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Robust Power and Subcarrier Allocation for OFDM-based Cognitive Radio Networks Considering Spectrum Sensing Uncertainties [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
‎In this paper‎, ‎we address power and subcarrier allocation for cooperative cognitive radio (CR) networks in the presence of spectrum sensing errors‎. ‎First‎, ‎we derive the mutual interference of primary and secondary networks affecting each other by ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.
