DTV protection regions for spectrum sharing

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2014
In this Letter, the authors propose a technique that allows a secondary user (SU) to reuse the spectrum allocated to TV broadcast system. The approach is based on protection view point and an SU is allowed to transmit outside the noise limited contour ...

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

An investigation into the efficacy of methods commonly employed by mix engineers to reduce frequency masking in the mixing of multitrack musical recordings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Studio engineers use a variety of techniques to reduce frequency masking between instruments when mixing multi-track musical recordings. This study evaluates the efficacy of three techniques, namely mirrored equalization, frequency spectrum sharing and ...

Digital twins to accelerate target identification and drug development for immune‐mediated disorders

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Digital twins integrate patient‐derived molecular and clinical data into personalised computational models that simulate disease mechanisms. They enable rapid identification and validation of therapeutic targets, prediction of drug responses, and prioritisation of candidate interventions.

Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...

Blockchain-based spectrum sharing algorithm

open access: yesDianxin kexue
Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) can be widely used in many scenarios due to their low cost, high mobility and flexible deployment, but most UAVs work in license-free frequency bands and lack safety supervision.

Enzymatic and microbial routes to bioplastics: The green chemistry frontier of biopolymers

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Microbial biosynthesis and engineered enzyme platforms are expanding the design space of polyhydroxyalkanoate bioplastics. By combining fermentation, PHA synthase engineering and cell‐free modular systems, tailored biodegradable polymers can be produced with tunable properties, supporting more sustainable materials and future circular bioeconomy ...
