Assessing a speaker for fast speech in unit selection speech synthesis
Moers D, Wagner P. Assessing a speaker for fast speech in unit selection speech synthesis. In: Proceedings of Interspeech. 2009: 2071-2074.This paper describes work in progress concerning the ad- equate modeling of fast speech in unit selection speech ...

Bisphenol A (BPA), a common chemical in plastics, exerts dual effects on bladder cancer cells: low doses promote growth and migration, while high doses suppress growth and migration. Multi‐omics and bioinformatics reveal BPA acts via MAPK and inflammatory pathways.

Synthetic Speech Discrimination using Pitch Pattern Statistics Derived from Image Analysis
In this paper, we extend the work by Ogihara, et al. to discriminate between human and synthetic speech using features based on pitch patterns. As previously demonstrated, significant differences in pitch patterns between human and synthetic speech can ...

Complex-Valued Independent Component Analysis for Online Blind Speech Extraction
This paper presents a theoretical analysis of a certain criterion for complex-valued independent component analysis (ICA) with a focus on blind speech extraction (BSE) of a spatio–temporally nonstationary speech source.

This study explores the feasibility of expressing the antitumoral protein Amblyomin‐X through a suicide gene therapy approach and investigates its intracellular fate after gene delivery. Although the gene is efficiently expressed, melanoma cells rapidly degrade the Amblyomin‐X protein via proteasome activity.

Analysis Of Speech Acts In Political Speeches
Speech Acts theories have been a considerable revolution in the developments of pragmatics as a discipline. However, pragmatics cannot be fully studied without taking in consideration discourse analysis, since they are closely joint with each other.

Nonlinear methods for speech analysis and synthesis
In view of these observations, it seems likely that the data-based model of the vowel dynamics possesses an important degree of structure, perhaps reflecting physiological considerations, that requires further investigation.

Phoneme and sentence-level ensembles for speech recognition
We address the question of whether and how boosting and bagging can be used for speech recognition. In order to do this, we compare two different boosting schemes, one at the phoneme level and one at the utterance level, with a phoneme-level bagging ...

Rapid screening of staphylokinase protein variants using an unpurified cell‐free expression system
An unpurified cell‐free protein synthesis (CFPS) platform enables rapid functional screening of staphylokinase variants. Direct plasminogen‐activation assays performed in microplate format provide real‐time activity readouts, allowing rapid identification and ranking of variants with improved or reduced fibrinolytic activity without protein ...
