On the disagreement between speech transmission index (STI) and speech intelligibility
The change tendency of speech transmission index (STI) was examined by calculation for several modeled sound fields. As a result, it has been revealed that STI contradicts the generally accepted concept of the importance of early energy for speech intelligibility.

A modified technique to predict speech privacy and distraction distances in open-plan offices
Open-plan offices have become widely adopted in various industries as a workplace environment. However, this office layout type suffers from speech privacy, which can be represented by the acoustic parameter known as the Speech Transmission Index (STI ...

Chinese Word Identification and Sentence Intelligibility in Primary School Classrooms
The Chinese word identification and sentence intelligibility are evaluated by grades 3 and 5 students in the classrooms with different reverberation times (RTs) from three primary school under different signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs).

Effect of talker and speaking style on the Speech Transmission Index (L) [PDF]
The Speech Transmission Index (STI) is routinely applied for predicting the intelligibility of messages (sentences) in noise and reverberation. Despite clear evidence that the STI is capable of doing so accurately, recent results indicate that the STI sometimes underestimates the effect of reverberation on sentence intelligibility.

Acoustic Sensing Analytics Applied to Speech in Reverberation Conditions
The paper aims to discuss a case study of sensing analytics and technology in acoustics when applied to reverberation conditions. Reverberation is one of the issues that makes speech in indoor spaces challenging to understand.
