Bifunctional Photocatalysts: Exploiting Proximity for Enhanced Reaction Performance
This review covers the application of the bifunctional approach to photocatalysis as a means to attain (enhanced) enantioselectivity, and, more in general, as a strategy to enhance the catalytic performance through an effective use of short‐lived reaction intermediates.

Interaction Between Actin and Microtubules During Plant Development
ABSTRACT The dynamic interaction between actin filaments (AFs) and microtubules (MTs) plays a crucial role in regulating key developmental and physiological processes in plant cells, particularly in the formation of specialized cell types with distinct shapes and functions, such as pollen tubes, trichomes, and leaf epidermal cells.

PEK14: A Kinesin‐4 Necessary for Male‐Derived Fertility in Arabidopsis thaliana
ABSTRACT Of the 61 kinesins annotated in Arabidopsis thaliana, many are still without assigned function. Here, we have screened an insertional mutant library of Arabidopsis pollen‐expressed kinesins for fertility defects. Insertional mutants for three kinesins showed a significant reduction in seed set.

Protein phosphatase 2A (PP2A) function in male germ cells and its importance for male fertility
Infertility is a common issue that affects approximately 30 million men worldwide, most often resulting from defects during spermatogenesis, a complex cellular differentiation process allowing the formation of spermatozoa. During spermatogenesis, a large

Three cases of sperm immobility for intracytoplasmic sperm injection using testicular sperm
IntroductionSperm immobility is a condition in which sperm are viable but not motile. We reported three patients with sperm immobility, who underwent testicular sperm extraction‐intracytoplasmic sperm injection.Case presentationIn case 1, a 32‐year‐old patient with sperm immobility had previously undergone intracytoplasmic sperm injection with ...

ABSTRACT Of the three types of cytoskeleton known in animals—actin, microtubules, and intermediate filaments—only actin and microtubules exist in plants. Both play important roles in cellular shaping, organelle movement, organization of the endomembrane system, and cell signaling.

ABSTRACT Pollen is a male gametophyte of angiosperms. Following meiosis, the microspore undergoes an asymmetric division called pollen mitosis I (PMI), which produces two cells of different sizes: a large vegetative cell and a small generative cell. Polarized nuclear migration and positioning during PMI are important for successful pollen development ...

The annulus: composition, role and importance in sperm flagellum biogenesis and male fertility
The annulus is an electron-dense ring structure that surrounds the axoneme and compartmentalizes the sperm flagellum into two parts: the midpiece and the principal piece.
