Evaluating Reproductive Health Recommendations in CPGs for Sickle Cell Disease: An Umbrella Review

open access: yesClinical and Public Health Guidelines, Volume 3, Issue 4, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Individuals with sickle cell disease or trait (SCD/T) face significant reproductive health risks, highlighting the need to assess the best available evidence on their reproductive health needs. Objectives To assess the quality of SCD/T clinical practice guidelines and evaluate the key characteristics and quality of their ...

Potentially Toxic Elements and Male Reproductive Toxicity: Mechanisms, Implications, and Protective Strategies: A Narrative Review

open access: yesJournal of Biochemical and Molecular Toxicology, Volume 40, Issue 10, October 2026.
Potentially toxic elements impair male reproductive function through oxidative stress, DNA damage, mitochondrial dysfunction, inflammation, endocrine disruption and epigenetic alterations. Antioxidants, phytochemicals, chelating agents and healthy lifestyle interventions may help mitigate testicular toxicity and preserve fertility.

Sustainable Overproduction of the Bacterial Pigment Indigoidine as a Natural Colorant: Stability Evaluation, Inhibition of Obesity‐Diabetes‐Related Digestive Enzymes, and Activation of AMPK–AKT

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 5, October 2026.
Production of indigoidine (IND) increased from 1.04 to 2.76 g/L using an optimized LB medium composed of glucose, l‐glutamine, tryptone, yeast extract, MgSO4·7H2O, and KH2PO4. The IND has significant inhibition properties against amylase and lipase enzymes, stimulates AMPK and AKT pathways, and improves glucose uptake.

Global Proteomic Analysis of Sperm and Seminal Plasma From Tropically‐Adapted Rams With Contrasting Parameters of Frozen‐Thawed Semen

open access: yesMolecular Reproduction and Development, Volume 93, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to characterize the proteome of sperm and seminal plasma (SP) from rams with high semen freezability (HF) and low semen freezability (LF). Eleven ejaculates were collected from 12 rams, at 3‐day intervals, and cryopreserved (132 semen samples).

Elamipretide Rejuvenates Oocyte Quality and Restores Female Fertility During Reproductive Aging

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 10, October 2026.
We reported a novel peptide therapy showing that elamipretide restores the quality of aged oocytes for fertility by coordinately boosting oocyte nuclear and cytoplasmic maturation via activation of the VEGF signaling pathway. ABSTRACT Aging represents a major contributor to the deterioration of female fertility, with oocyte quality being the central ...

DNMT1 Regulates Testosterone Synthesis in Aged Rat Leydig Cells via FTO‐Mediated HSP90AA1 m6A Levels

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 10, October 2026.
During Leydig cell senescence, decreased DNMT1 triggers Fto promoter hypomethylation and upregulates FTO. Elevated FTO reduces m6A modification of Hsp90aa1, lowering HSP90AA1 to inhibit AKT signaling, facilitate apoptosis and reduce testosterone synthesis.
