How germline genes promote malignancy in cancer cells

open access: yesBioEssays, Volume 45, Issue 1, January 2023., 2023
We hypothesize that activation of a “germline program” promotes oncogenesis. Expression of otherwise germline specific genes may result in pseudomeiotic activity, thereby promoting oncogenesis through genomic instability. Other processes that are differentially regulated in the germline, such as migration and epigenetic – and metabolic plasticity, may ...

Determination of crucial epitopes in the sperm protein calsperin employing synthetic peptides and monoclonal antibodies

open access: yesJournal of Peptide Science, Volume 29, Issue 2, February 2023., 2023
An epitope located at the C‐terminal end of calsperin corresponding to amino acids 228WEKHFLDAS237 was identified by using two monoclonal antibodies and resin‐bound calsperin peptides. Three hot spot amino acids were essential for antibody binding.

Automatic detection of spermatozoa for laser capture microdissection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
In sexual assault crimes, differential extraction of spermatozoa from vaginal swab smears is often ineffective, especially when only a few spermatozoa are present in an overwhelming amount of epithelial cells.

A new insight into male fertility preservation for patients with completely immotile spermatozoa

open access: yesReproductive Biology and Endocrinology, 2017
Background Sperm cryopreservation is the most effective method to preserve male fertility but this is normally used for motile spermatozoa. Thus, only motile spermatozoa are used for cryopreservation in most reproductive medicine centers worldwide.
