Sphalerite-wurtzite equilibria and stoichiometry

Geochimica et Cosmochimica Acta, 1972
Abstract Evidence from natural occurrences and from published syntheses indicates that the sphalerite-wurtzite inversion is not an invariant reaction at 1020°C, 1 atm but is a univariant function of fs2 and temperature. Single crystals of zinc sulfide, grown in aqueous NaOH solutions which were selected to control fs2, have shown that a univariant ...

Coupling leaching of sphalerite concentrate

Minerals Engineering, 2005
Abstract Studies on coupling process of sphalerite concentrate leaching in H 2 SO 4 –HNO 3 and tetrachloroethylene extracting of sulfur were reported. Mechanism of coupling leaching and effects of adding amounts of C 2 Cl 4 , temperature and liquid-to-solid ratio on leaching process were investigated separately.

Electrobioleaching of sphalerite flotation concentrate

Minerals Engineering, 1998
Electrobioleaching of a sphalerite flotation concentrate at a positive DC potential of +0.4V (SCE) has been discussed and compared with that at -0.5V(SCE). Probable mechanisms in the electrobioleaching process are considered with respect to oxidative and reductive dissolution as well as to direct and indirect roles of Thiobacillus ferrooxidans.

Sphalerite Framework in Polar Sulfides

Journal of Chemical Crystallography, 2013
The basic sphalerite framework has been revealed in complex sulfide minerals: galkhaite, stalderite, aktashite and other sulfide compounds. It has been shown that the noncentrosymmetric sphalerite framework is very stringent and robust in reference to the cation type, cluster formations and the presence of vacancy.

Defects in the sphalerite structure

Journal of Physics and Chemistry of Solids, 1962
Abstract Hornstra's method for drawing the arrangements of the atoms in the cores of dislocations in covalently bonded crystals is applied to the sphalerite structure. Bond rearrangement and dislocation dissociation into an extended form are considered and the implications are discussed. A crude calculation of bond strain energy indicates that Haasen'
