On the freeness of hypersurface arrangements consisting of hyperplanes and spheres
Let V be a smooth variety. A hypersurface arrangement 𝓜 in V is a union of smooth hypersurfaces, which locally looks like a union of hyperplanes. We say 𝓜 is free if all these local models can be chosen to be free hyperplane arrangements.

The equation of state for a two-dimensional hard-sphere gas is difficult to calculate by usual methods. In this paper we develop an approach for calculating the equation of state of hard-sphere gases, both for two- and three-dimensional cases.

We consider flows on a spherical surface and use a streamfunction formulation to derive a nonlinear equation governing steady-state flows in that geometry. We present some new vortex solutions to this equation.

Toll‐like receptors (TLRs) are important in the innate immune system. This study explores the zinc‐binding ability of the TLR2 TIR domain (TLR2TIR). We found that TLR2TIR binds zinc with nanomolar affinity through its cysteine residues. Two of them, C673 and C713, are vital for receptor activation, indicating that zinc may play a role in initiating ...

Control of the rolling of a dynamically symmetrical sphere on an inclined rotating plane [PDF]
The work investigates the rolling dynamics of a dynamically symmetrical heavy sphere (or a heavy spherical shell) along an inclined rough plane (platform) rotating with constant or periodic angular velocity around an axis, which is perpendicular to the ...

Analytic expressions that describe Casimir interactions over the entire range of separations have been limited to planar surfaces. Here we derive analytic expressions for the classical or high-temperature limit of Casimir interactions between two spheres

Venom peptides have shown promise in treating pain. Our study uses computer screening to identify a peptide that targets a sodium channel (NaV1.7) linked to chronic pain. We produced the peptide in the laboratory and refined its design, advancing the search for innovative pain therapies.

Multiple rings in the transition disk and companion candidates around RX J1615.3-3255. High contrast imaging with VLT/SPHERE [PDF]
Context. The effects of a planet sculpting the disk from which it formed are most likely to be found in disks that are in transition between being classical protoplanetary and debris disks.

Support interference in wind tunnel testing is an unavoidable effect. It is difficult to measure the aerodynamic force acting on a model such as a ball owing to this effect [1].
