From Bulk to Colloidal Nanocrystals: Top‐Down Synthesis of Highly Luminescent Cs2ZrCl6:Te4+ Double Perovskite Nanocrystals for X‐Ray Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Top‐down ultrasonication produces highly emissive Cs2ZrCl6:Te4+ nanocrystals (NCs) with a PLQY of 65%, which is higher compared to that of the NCs synthesized by typical bottom‐up hot‐injection synthesis. The colloidal Cs2ZrCl6:Te4+ NCs have been found to be potential candidates for x‐ray scintillation imaging.

Photoinduced Charge Separation in Single‐Component Squaraine Films: The Key Role of Electrostatic Disorder

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Neat films of organic dyes are an interesting technological platform for solar cells and photodetectors. Recently, the conventional biphasic bulk‐heterojunction paradigm for photoinduced charge separation was challenged by the observation that charge carriers can be photogenerated in single‐component materials. A comprehensive experimental and

Photocatalytic activity of monodispersed spherical TiO2 particles with different crystallization routes

open access: yes, 2003
Monodispersed spherical TiO2 particles were prepared by hydrothermal crystallization and/or calcination of spherical amorphous particles, synthesized by thermal hydrolysis of TiCl4.

[Spherical crystallization in pharmaceutical technology].

open access: yesActa pharmaceutica Hungarica, 1998
Physical properties of crystals, such as size, crystal size distribution and morphology, may predetermine the usefulness of crystalline materials in many pharmaceutical application. The above properties can be regulated with the crystallization process. The spherical crystals are suitable for direct tablet-making because of their better flowability and

Particle Design of Drugs via Spherical Crystallization: A Review from Fundamental Aspects to Technology Development

open access: yes
In the pharmaceutical industry, the production process of most active pharmaceutical ingredients involves at least one crystallization step. Design of drug spheres via various spherical crystallization technologies can impart crystals with certain ...

Spherical Crystallization of Carbamazepine/Saccharin Co-Crystals: Selective Agglomeration and Purification through Surface Interactions

open access: yes, 2016
Spherical crystallization involves crystallization and simultaneous agglomeration of a crystalline particle using an immiscible phase, which has preferential affinity for the crystal surface.

Amphoteric Cu‐Doping Leading to High Thermoelectric Performance in p‐Type Bismuth Antimony Telluride

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study shows that Cu plays two opposite roles in p‐type Bi0.5Sb1.5Te3 depending on the processing route. Under thermodynamic‐equilibrium bulk‐synthesis, Cu mainly occupies cation sites, increases hole concentration, preserves mobility, and slightly reduces lattice heat transport. The best‐performing composition among the investigated series reaches

Lewis Acid Site Engineering in MOF‐Derived Aluminum Oxide/Carbon Composites for Dechlorination of Waste Plastic Pyrolysis Oil

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Controlled carbonization of an Al‐MOF partially decomposes its linkers, exposing coordinatively unsaturated Al centers within an oxide/carbon composite. The resulting Lewis acid sites, rather than surface area, govern organochlorine capture: the composite removes chemically diverse organochlorines from waste plastic pyrolysis oil, outperforms a ...

Rare‐Earth–Functionalized Carbon Dot Hydrogels as Mechanically Robust Antibacterial Wound Dressings

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
The schematic depicts a dynamically cross‐linked PVA hydrogel network in which reversible borate ester bonds and hydrogen‐bonding interactions integrate lanthanum‐doped carbon dots (La‐CDs) and dipotassium glycyrrhizinate (DPG) to form a mechanically robust, multifunctional matrix.
