Study on Causes and Compensation for Speed Attenuation of a Spherical Superconducting Rotor

IEEE Transactions on Applied Superconductivity, 2017
When the superconducting magnetic suspension device is in operation, the spherical superconducting rotor will keep rotating at a high speed above 200 Hz. It brings the rotor a large angular momentum and high orientation stability, which is one of the preconditions for achieving high accuracy of the device.

A New Rotor Position Estimation Method for Spherical Reluctance Motor Based on Inductance Characteristics Obtained From Measurement

IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 2023
Since the spherical reluctance motor (SPRM) works in saturation, it is difficult to estimate the rotor position. In this article, a new rotor position estimation method for SPRM is proposed.

Note: Attenuation motion of acoustically levitated spherical rotor

Review of Scientific Instruments, 2016
Here we observe the attenuation motion of spherical rotors levitated by near-field acoustic radiation force and analyze the factors that affect the duration time of free rotation. It is found that the rotating speed of freely rotating rotor decreases exponentially with respect to time.

Research of the Static Balance for Spherical Rotor

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2007
For spherical rotor of gyroscope and some other high speed rotor, static balance is important. The paper introduces a static balance method for spherical rotor: the position of the spherical rotor is fixed by the use of the special clamp apparatus, and then determines the unbalance mass using the electronic balance.

An Improved Starting Strategy for a Spherical Superconducting Rotor

IEEE Transactions on Applied Superconductivity, 2018
Due to the absence of friction, a superconducting rotor can achieve a very high speed to obtain a large angular momentum for high-precision measurement of the angular displacement and angular velocity. However, in practice, the superconducting rotor will do vibration and collide with the inner wall of the rotor cavity at a certain speed during startup,
