Translation and rotation of a porous spheroid in a spheroidal container
Canadian Journal of Physics, 2010The flow problem of an incompressible axisymmetrical quasisteady translation and steady rotation of a porous spheroid in a concentric spheroidal container are studied analytically. The same small departure from a sphere is considered for each spheroidal surface.

The problem of a charged conducting spheroid within a coaxial conducting cylinder is solved by a slight variation of the method in J. Appl. Phys. 31, 553 (1960). Errors in the terminal digits of Table I in that paper have been corrected and the table extended.

THE ORTHOMORPHIC PROJECTION OF THE SPHEROID—II
Empire Survey Review, 1946AbstractWe now turn to a question which has received much attention of recent years; the possibility of transforming angular and linear field measures to an orthomorphic projection so that the results of a survey may be computed directly in plane Co-ordinates without having to go through the spheroid at all.

Spheroidal wave functions occur in many scientific and engineering contexts, from atomic nuclei to the cosmos-scattering by nonspherical nuclei, wave functions of diatomic molecules, analysis of band-limited random noise, orthogonal frequency division multiplexing, and anisotropy of the cosmic microwave background radiation.

The equilibrium position of a spherical or prolate spheroidal particle resembling a needle floating at the interface between two immiscible fluids is discussed. A three-dimensional meniscus attached to an a priori unknown contact line at a specified contact angle is established around the particle, imparting to the particle a capillary force due to ...
