Comparison between SPIF with Robot and CNC Machine
Key Engineering Materials, 2011This paper deals with Incremental Sheet Forming (ISF) a sheet metal forming process that knew a wide development in the last years. A lot of experimental and simulative researches have been conducted in this field with different aims: to study the sheet formability and part feasibility; to define models able to forecast the final sheet thickness; to ...

Electric Energy Consumption Analysis of SPIF Processes
Key Engineering Materials, 2013Manufacturing processes, as used for discrete part manufacturing, are responsible for a substantial part of the environmental impact of products, but are still poorly documented in terms of environmental footprint. A thorough analysis on the causes affecting the environmental impact in metal forming processes, especially the innovative but very energy ...

Advances in force modelling for SPIF
International Journal of Material Forming, 2009The aim of the study was to establish practical formulas allowing to predict the forces occurring during the process of Single Point Incremental Forming (SPIF). This study has been based on a large set of systematic experiments on one hand and on results of FEM simulations on the other hand. This led to analytical formulas allowing to compute the three

Use of TPIF or SPIF for Prototype Productions: an Actual Case
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2007The present research deals with sheet incremental forming (SIF), a recently developed technique characterized by high flexibility, reduced production times and costs. This is ideal when low volume batches or customized parts or prototypes have to be manufactured.

SPIF of brass alloys: Preliminary studies
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2016This article discusses the preliminary studies of the Single Point Incremental Forming (SPIF) process applied brass alloy Cu-35Zn, with different sheet thicknesses and formed geometries. Despite being a material widely used in industry, with excellent cold formability, there is still no relevant research on this material concerning SPIF. As a result of

On the Manufacturing of a Cranial PEEK Implant Using SPIF
Key Engineering Materials, 2023This article presents an experimental investigation of biocompatible Polyether ether ketone (PEEK) polymeric sheet deformed using Single Point Incremental Forming (SPIF) at room temperature, with the objective of manufacturing a cranial medical implant.

1997
This paper introduces the current developments of the SPIF (Systeme de Prototypage a Implantation rapide et Faible cout) project. The goal of SPIF is to provide a low cost environment for quick prototyping of embedded distributed real-time applications. The hardware platform is built with reusable, standard off-the-shelf components. SPIF is the name of

Role of Tool Size in Suppressing Defects in SPIF Process
Advanced Materials Research, 2013In the present work, the role of tool radius in suppressing forming defects in SPIF process is investigated. It is shown that a strong correlation exits between tool size and defect appearance. Moreover, there is a certain limit on choosing low limit of tool size for defect-free forming.

Stabilized-speckle integral field spectroscopy: SPIFS
SPIE Proceedings, 2008We describe an instrument concept and basic feasibility study for a new observational technique which we call Stabilized-sPeckle Integral Field Spectroscopy (SPIFS). SPIFS will enable, under certain observational conditions and constraints, low-to-modest-Strehl diffraction-limited imaging spectroscopy from large ground-based telescopes in the ...
