CRISPLD2 Attenuates Intervertebral Disc Degeneration by Suppressing Oxidative Stress‐Induced Ferroptosis through the miR‐548I‐IL17A Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies CRISPLD2 as a key protector against IVDD. By regulating ferroptosis through the CRISPLD2–miR‐548I–IL17A axis, CRISPLD2 maintains NPCs homeostasis and reduces oxidative stress. Restoring CRISPLD2 expression effectively alleviates disc degeneration and highlights a promising therapeutic strategy for discogenic low back pain ...

A NeuroD1 AAV‐Based Gene Therapy for Functional Brain Repair in Alzheimer's Disease‐Like Non‐Human Primate Model

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study tests NeuroD1 AAV‐based gene therapy in a non‐human primate Alzheimer's disease model. The therapy prevents neuronal damage, inhibits hippocampal atrophy, and reduces neuroinflammation. It also repairs vascular and blood‐brain barrier damage, restores cerebrospinal fluid biomarkers, enhances hippocampal glucose metabolism, and improves ...

Microendovascular Neural Recording from Cortical and Deep Vessels with High Precision and Minimal Invasiveness

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Intravascular electroencephalography (ivEEG) using micro‐intravascular electrodes was developed. Cortical‐vein ivEEG showed a higher signal‐to‐noise ratio and finer spatial resolution of somatosensory evoked potentials (SEPs) than superior sagittal sinus ivEEG, and deep‐vein ivEEG captured clear visual evoked potentials.

Intracranial subdural hematoma after epidural anesthesia: a case report and review of the literature

open access: yesInternational Journal of Emergency Medicine, 2018
Background Intracranial subdural hematoma occurring as a result of a procedure that causes a puncture of the spinal dura mater is extremely rare, with less than 100 cases reported.

Translational Feasibility of Lumbar Puncture for Intrathecal AAV Administration

open access: yesMolecular Therapy: Methods & Clinical Development, 2020
Preclinical studies have demonstrated that a single injection of an adeno-associated virus (AAV) vector into the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) can achieve widespread gene transfer throughout the central nervous system.

Expanding the Genotype–Phenotype Correlation of Marden–Walker Syndrome due to PIEZO2 Gene Variants: A Case Report From Brazil

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Marden–Walker syndrome (MWS; OMIM 248700) is an extremely rare congenital disorder characterized by multiple joint contractures, craniofacial dysmorphism, neurological abnormalities, and multisystem involvement. Although historically diagnosed on clinical grounds, only a few cases have been molecularly confirmed.

Intrathecal Catheterization by Epidural Catheter: Management of Accidental Dural Puncture and Prophylaxis of PDPH

open access: yesIndian Journal of Anaesthesia, 2009
Accidental or inadvertent dural puncture during epidural anaesthesia results in high incidence of post dural puncture headache (PDPH). Spinal or intrathecal catheter in such a situation, provides aconduit for administration of appropriate local ...

Compression suture: A method for simulating intervertebral disc degeneration in rats induced by excessive loading

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
In the compression suture group, a 5‐mm‐wide tail skin was removed, and then the defect was sutured to apply compressive force to the intervertebral disc. In the sham group, only the 5‐mm‐wide tail skin was removed without a compression suture. Compression suturing triggers apoptosis, inflammatory response, and imbalance of extracellular matrix ...

Ultrasound-assisted technique versus the conventional landmark location method in spinal anesthesia for cesarean delivery in parturients with class 3 obesity: a randomized controlled trial

open access: yesBMC Anesthesiology
Background Spinal anesthesia with the conventional landmark technique can be challenging in parturients with morbid obesity. In the present study, the researchers examined the effects of ultrasound-assisted pre-puncture anesthesia in parturients with ...
