Treatment of splenic marginal zone lymphoma

open access: yesBest Practice & Research Clinical Haematology, 2017
Splenic marginal zone lymphoma (SMZL) is a distinct lymphoma entity characterized by an indolent clinical course and prolonged survival. Treatment is not standardized, since there are no prospective randomized trials in large series of SMZL patients. Splenectomy and rituximab represent the most effective treatment strategies used so far.

Primary splenic diffuse large B‐cell lymphoma presenting as a splenic abscess

open access: yes, 2023
Diffuse large B‐cell lymphoma (DLBCL) arising in the spleen, also known as primary splenic DLBCL (PS‐DLBCL), is a rare form of malignant lymphoma. It is defined as a lymphoma confined to the spleen or involving splenic hilar lymph nodes. Here we report a

Homocitrullinated Peptides Drive Pro‐Inflammatory T Cell Responses in a Humanized Mouse Model of Rheumatoid Arthritis

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective Anti‐homocitrullinated protein/peptide antibodies are specific to rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and predictive of worse prognosis, suggesting a pathogenic role for autoreactivity to homocitrullinated peptides (HomoCitP). However, T cell responses to HomoCitP remain largely unexplored.

Peripheral Blood DNA Methylation Changes Precede Lymphoma Diagnosis in Primary Sjögren's Disease

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective Primary Sjögren's disease (SjD) is a systemic autoimmune disease associated with an increased risk of lymphoma. The molecular mechanisms underlying lymphomagenesis remain poorly understood, and sensitive biomarkers for early identification of patients at high risk of developing lymphoma are lacking.

Subset‐specific and tissue‐specific expression of NK‐cell markers and killer immunoglobulin‐like receptors: Implications for NK‐cell clonality assessment

open access: yesCytometry Part B: Clinical Cytometry, EarlyView.
Abstract Accurate immunophenotypic evaluation of natural killer (NK)‐cell neoplasms is challenging because NK‐cells lack somatically rearranged antigen receptors, are comprised of phenotypically distinct subsets, and exhibit tissue‐specific subset distribution. We developed a flow cytometry (FC) panel for NK‐cell immunophenotypic analysis and clonality

Prognostic Value of 18F-FDG PET/CT Metabolic Parameters in Splenic Marginal Zone Lymphoma

open access: yes, 2020
The present study investigated the potential value of fluorine-18 fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography metabolic features in estimating progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) in patients affected by ...

Liquid biopsy across cancers: Integrating circulating biomarkers, tumor biology, artificial intelligence, and clinical translation

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Medicine, EarlyView.
Liquid biopsy uses non‐invasive sampling of blood or body fluids to isolate circulating analytes, including circulating tumor DNA, circulating tumor cells, extracellular vesicles, and RNA. These are analyzed using next‐generation sequencing, qPCR, and proteomics to inform cancer detection, monitoring, and characterization. Figure created with BioRender.

A case of lymphoma presenting as splenic infarction

open access: yesBMJ Case Reports, 2009
A 65-year-old man, previously well, presented with a 2 week history of abdominal pain and fever. Splenomegaly and jaundice were present, with no peripheral lymphadenopathy and no clinical evidence of bacterial endocarditis. Blood tests showed mild anaemia (haemoglobin 10 g/dl), pronounced thrombocytopenia, bilirubin 102 µmol/l (66 conjugated), and a ...

Nail Disorders in Systemic Conditions

open access: yesJEADV Clinical Practice, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Nail findings in children can be indicative of an underlying systemic disease. Many of these findings are seen in multiple entities and are not specific to one disease. The importance of specifically examining for these nail changes cannot be overstated.
