Immunomodulations of thymocytes and splenocytes in trained rats

Journal of Applied Physiology, 1991
The aim of this study was to describe the effects of training (running) on thymus and spleen cells in the rat. Young Wistar control rats (n = 6), rats trained for 4 wk (n = 5), and rats trained for 4 wk followed by 1 wk of intensive training (3 h/day, n = 6) were studied.

Translocatable estrogen receptors in rat splenocytes

Life Sciences, 1986
Estradiol has previously been shown to suppress the response of the cellular immune system of the rat while enhancing the production of IgM antibodies. Analysis of the cytosol from rat splenocytes showed saturation of specific binding sites at concentrations of between 80 and 160 nM [3H]-estradiol with an approximate Kd of 12 nM.

Stimulation of murine splenocytes by melatonin and methoxytryptamine

Journal of Neural Transmission, 1993
Male C57 mice kept under a 14:10 (L:D) photoperiod received vehicle (VEH), melatonin (MEL) and methoxytryptamine (MTA) in the drinking water for 2 weeks. Splenocytes from MEL-treated mice showed an augmented mitogenic response to concanavalin A and lipopolysaccharide (LPS) while splenocytes from MTA-treated mice demonstrated an enhanced mitogenic ...

Some characteristics of natural cytostatic mouse splenocytes

Journal of Immunological Methods, 1981
Murine B16 melanoma cells and metastasis variants of this tumor are resistant to NK activity mediated by normal splenocytes. The B16 cells are, however, sensitive to splenocyte-mediated cytostasis. Cytostasis was measured by a [125I]UDR incorporation-inhibition [(125I]UDR I-I) assay.

Social stress alters splenocyte phenotype and function

Journal of Neuroimmunology, 2002
Social stress of group-housed male mice induced a state of functional glucocorticoid (GC) resistance in splenocytes. The following studies examined the effects of paired-fighting (PF) stress on immune cell distribution and function in spleens of male mice.

Mitogenicity of thrombin and surface alterations on mouse splenocytes

Experimental Cell Research, 1976
Abstract Splenocyte cultures prepared from BALB/c mice can be stimulated to DNA synthesis by thrombin and trypsin but not by bovine serum. The stimulation by thrombin as a function of concentration of the enzyme is the same in the presence or absence of serum, whereas lower concentrations of trypsin are not mitogenic if combined with serum.

Adoptive Transfer of Splenocytes to Immunocompromised Mice

2012
Analysis of the immune response of mice to Helicobacter infection has been greatly aided by the use of various deficient mouse strains. Here we present protocols for reconstitution of immune-deficient mice with wild-type immune cells and protocols for analysis of the outcome.

Concanavalin A-stimulated Ca2+ uptake in rat splenocytes

Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry, 1980
Commercially available concanavalin A binds Ca2+ with high apparent affinity. In order to dissociate concanavalin A stimulated Ca2+ uptake (defined as an increased association of 45Ca2+ with cells) in rat splenocytes and Ca2+ binding to cell-bound concanavalin A, conditions were developed to remove more than 75% of the bound concanavalin A. Under these

Functional Alterations of Splenocytes in Severe Acute Pancreatitis

Journal of Surgical Research, 2002
Recently, the concept of "Th1 (T helper cell type 1)/Th2 (T helper cell type 2) balance" was introduced for understanding the pathophysiologic response during septic or preseptic conditions. To clarify unknown Th1/Th2 balance during acute pancreatitis, functional alterations of the splenocyte were investigated in rat experimental severe acute ...

Glycogen regulation in LPS-stimulated murine splenocytes

Experimental Cell Research, 1984
Enzymatic glycogen regulation in mouse splenocytes cultured in vitro with and without LPS, was studied from 0-72 h. Increased [3H]glucose uptake and hexokinase activity demonstrated the activation of cells treated with LPS. There was a greater time-dependent increase of cellular glycogen content in LPS-stimulated cells as compared to control.
