Recovery of recordings from heat damaged magnetic tapes [PDF]

open access: yes, 1973
Damaged tapes can now be repaired at home as long as damage does not extend to layer-to-layer adhesion within tape roll. Splice repaired section into good roll or cassette for copying. Every effort should be made to complete copying on first run, because

Macro and micro polypropylene fiber effect on reinforced concrete beams with insufficient lap splice length

open access: yesCase Studies in Construction Materials, 2022
For longer spans of reinforced concrete elements, design codes dictate the use of sufficient lap splice length. Insufficient lap splice length decreases the flexural strength and ductility of reinforced concrete (RC) beams, while fiber addition improves ...

The E3 ubiquitin ligase, RNF219, suppresses CNOT6L expression to exhibit antiproliferative activity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We identified RNF219 as a CCR4‐NOT complex‐interacting E3 ubiquitin ligase that targets the CCR4‐NOT subunit CNOT6L for ubiquitination. RNF219 directly binds to the DUF3819 domain of CNOT1 through its putative α‐helix spanning amino acids 521–542. Our findings also suggest that antiproliferative activity of RNF219 is at least partially mediated by ...

Blocking the voltage‐gated sodium channel hNav1.5 as a novel pH‐dependent mechanism of action for tamoxifen

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Patch‐clamp recordings revealed that tamoxifen inhibits voltage‐gated sodium channels, especially under acidic conditions, both common in metastatic cancer cells. These effects may explain certain antitumor properties of tamoxifen, highlighting a novel mechanism of action beyond its known endocrine effects.

Downregulation of sST2, a decoy receptor for interleukin‐33, enhances subcutaneous tumor growth in murine pancreatic cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Subcutaneous implantation of murine Panc02 pancreatic cancer cells depleted of sST2, a soluble decoy receptor for the proinflammatory interleukin‐33 (IL‐33), leads to a decreased number of GLUT4‐positive cancer‐associated adipocytes, reduced levels of the anti‐inflammatory molecule adiponectin, increased phosphorylation of IκBα, elevated Cxcl3 ...

Predicting DNA sequence splice site based on graph convolutional network and DNA graph construction

open access: yesJournal of King Saud University: Computer and Information Sciences
Identifying splice sites is essential for gene structure analysis and eukaryotic genome annotation. Recently, computational and deep learning approaches for splice site detection have advanced, focusing on reducing false positives by distinguishing true ...

A Novel CHMP2B Splicing Variant in Atypical Presentation of Familial Frontotemporal Lobar Degeneration

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT C‐truncating variants in the charged multivesicular body protein 2B (CHMP2B) gene are a rare cause of frontotemporal lobar degeneration (FTLD), previously identified only in Denmark, Belgium, and China. We report a novel CHMP2B splice‐site variant (c.35‐1G>A) associated with familial FTLD in Spain. The cases were two monozygotic male twins who
