Modulation of Splicing Factor Function and Alternative Splicing Outcomes
2022Alternative RNA splicing is an important means of genetic control and transcriptome diversity. Alternative splicing events are frequently studied independently, and coordinated splicing controlled by common factors is often overlooked: The molecular mechanisms by which splicing regulators promote or repress specific pre-mRNA processing are still not ...

Splice factor mutations and alternative splicing as drivers of hematopoietic malignancy
Immunological Reviews, 2014SummaryDifferential splicing contributes to the vast complexity of mRNA transcripts and protein isoforms that are necessary for cellular homeostasis and response to developmental cues and external signals. The hematopoietic system provides an exquisite example of this.

By alternative splicing, different isoforms of the transmembrane tyrosine phosphatase CD45 are generated that either enhance or limit T cell receptor signaling. We report here that CD45 alternative splicing is regulated by cooperative action of the splice factor U2AF26 and the transcription factor Gfi1.

[Oncogenic transcription factors as splicing regulators].
Medecine sciences : M/S, 2004Oncogene activity ranges from transduction signals to transcription factors. Altered expression of oncogenes, either by chromosomal translocation, proviral insertion or point mutations, can lead to tumor formation. More specifically, data accumulated through the last two decades have shown that disregulation of oncogenic transcription factors can ...
