Vibration Analysis of Rectangular Plates with Free Corners Using Spline-Based Differential Quadrature

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2004
A spline-based differential quadrature method (SDQM) is elaborated and applied to the vibration analysis of rectangular plates with free edges. The sextic B-spline functions are used to construct the pertaining cardinal spline interpolants.

Hierarchical Spline Approximation

open access: yes, 2001
We discuss spline refinement methods that approximate multi-valued data defined over one, two, and three dimensions. The input to our method is a coarse decomposition of the compact domain of the function to be approximated consisting of intervals (univariate case), triangles (bivariate case), and tetrahedra (trivariate case).

Phase Diagrams and Piezoelectric Properties of Wurtzite Al1−x−yScxGdyN Heterostructural Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates ferroelectricity and piezoelectric properties improvement of quaternary wurtzite Al1−x−yScxGdyN${\rm Al}_{1-x-y}{\rm Sc}_x{\rm Gd}_y{\rm N}$ films, guided by density functional theory calculations. Wurtzite Al1−x−yScxGdyN${\rm Al}_{1-x-y}{\rm Sc}_x{\rm Gd}_y{\rm N}$ films have a high optical bandgap, enhanced piezoelectric ...

Approximation of Double-dimensional Densities of Probabilities by Orthogonal Bases

open access: yesVestnik Samarskogo Gosudarstvennogo Tehničeskogo Universiteta. Seriâ: Fiziko-Matematičeskie Nauki, 2009
Approach to approximation of double-dimensional densities of probabilities in rectangle areas by the families of double-dimensional orthogonal functions created by multiplication of single-dimensional orthogonal functions is studied. Calculation formulas

EfficientL 2 approximation by splines

open access: yesNumerische Mathematik, 1979
LetS N k (t) be the linear space ofk-th order splines on [0, 1] having the simple knotst i determined from a fixed functiont by the rulet i=t(i/N). In this paper we introduce sequences of operators {Q N } N ? =1 fromC k [0, 1] toS N k (t) which are computationally simple and which, asN??, give essentially the best possible approximations tof and its ...

Record‐High Latent Heat, Ultra‐Fast Relaxation and Closed‐Loop Recycling Double‐Brush Polymer Networks for Self‐Adaptive Thermal Interface Management

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
By grafting dense long double‐brush chains, we synthesized bottlebrush networks with high theoretical enthalpy. Their low entanglement, combined with dynamic bonds, promotes crystalline domain reorganization and minimizes enthalpy loss, achieving a record enthalpy of 240.7 J·g−1.

Dynamic Programming as a Method of Spline Approximation in the CAD Systems of Linear Constructions

open access: yesРоссийский технологический журнал, 2019
Under study is a problem of the line structure routing of roads, railways and other linear constructions. Designing a trace plan and longitudinal profile are considered as non-linear programming tasks.

Spline-based Rayleigh-Ritz methods for the approximation of the natural modes of vibration for flexible beams with tip bodies [PDF]

open access: yes
Rayleigh-Ritz methods for the approximation of the natural modes for a class of vibration problems involving flexible beams with tip bodies using subspaces of piecewise polynomial spline functions are developed. An abstract operator theoretic formulation

Understanding the Interplay Between Thermal Activation, Diffusion, and Phase Segregation of Molecular Dopants Blended with Polymeric Semiconductors

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
The use of air stable but thermally labile molecules provides an efficient strategy for the N‐type doping of organic semiconductors with relatively low electron affinities. Design criteria for efficient dopants should also take into account diffusion and phase segregation that cannot be decoupled from thermally activated doping.
