Split Band Edge Structures and Negative Index
Slow and Fast Light, 2008Highly anisotropic periodic waveguide structures show gigantic field enhancements near a split band-edge due to low group velocities. An effective negative index regime is observed, leading to strong but localized field emission around the waveguide.

Forgotten Index of k-Splitting Graphs
Annals of Pure and Applied MathematicsThe objective of this paper is to derive explicit formulas for the forgotten index of 𝑘-splitting of generalized transformation graphs denoted as 𝑠𝑝𝑙𝑘(𝐺 𝑎𝑏). Subsequently, we also derived analogous expressions for the complements of 𝑠𝑝𝑙𝑘(𝐺 𝑎𝑏).

Asymmetric split ring nanosandwich for refractive index sensing
2017 11th European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EUCAP), 2017In this paper, we investigate the effect of applying asymmetry to the split ring nanosandwich on its refractive index sensitivity and optical response. Three different asymmetry configurations are studied which are: rotating the upper split ring, tapering the edges and stacking up additional layers to the nanosandwich structure.

Splitting of acoustic energy by zero index metamaterials
Physics Letters A, 2015Abstract An acoustic power splitter is proposed by utilizing a zero index metamaterials (ZIM) junction. Two types of ZIM, single zero index metamaterials (SZIM) and double zero index metamaterials (DZIM), are considered. The acoustic wave transmission through the multiple leads junction is investigated theoretically and numerically.

Block Splitting Indexing for Supporting Containment Queries
2003There is structural discrepancy between XML documents and relational databases. The structural information should be represented additionally when XML documents are stored in relational databases. Numbering schemes have been proposed for representing the structural information of XML documents.

Index splitting for complex objects in parallel environments
Systems and Computers in Japan, 1997Many indexing techniques for complex objects have been developed, but most of them are intended for a single-machine environment. By dividing a large index into subindexes and placing each of them on a separate machine, we can get good efficiency of index operations through parallelism.

Splittable groups with splitting component of prime index
Mathematical Notes, 1995Let \(G\) be a group of the form \(G=F\leftthreetimes\langle a\rangle\), where \(a\) is an element of prime order \(p\). The authors investigate the relation between the following conditions: (1) \(a\) acts regularly on \(F\); (2) each element of \(G\setminus F\) has order \(p\); (3) for every \(b\) in \(F\), the subgroup \(\langle a,b\rangle\) is ...

Tapered split ring nanosandwich for refractive index sensing
2016 8th Cairo International Biomedical Engineering Conference (CIBEC), 2016In this paper, the sensitivity of the split ring nanosandwich is studied after applying asymmetry to the structure. There are two asymmetry configurations that will be presented in this paper which include the tapered-down and the tapered-up configurations.

A Node Split Algorithm Reducing Overlapped Index Spaces in M-tree Index
22nd International Conference on Data Engineering Workshops (ICDEW'06), 2006Even though the ideal split policy for M-tree should determine which two routing objects are promoted so that the two partitioned regions would have minimum volume and minimum overlapped space, the previously proposed split algorithms must fail to achieve the goal since they select the actual entries from overflow entries as the routing objects to be ...

The master patient index: split patient records.
Computers in healthcare, 1989Systems integrators have overlooked the potential for corrupting the medical-record database through the creation of multiple (split) records for the individual patient. This article introduces a computer software technology that has been used at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Medical Center to identify split patient records.
