Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Optimal Operation of Dividing Wall Column using Enhanced Active Vapor Distributor

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2018
Due to its outstanding energy and capital cost-saving potential, a dividing wall column (DWC) has gained importance for the last two decades. Unlike conventional distillation columns, the DWC has more design and operation variables, such as controlling ...

Particle Gibbs Split-Merge Sampling for Bayesian Inference in Mixture Models

open access: yes, 2017
This paper presents a new Markov chain Monte Carlo method to sample from the posterior distribution of conjugate mixture models. This algorithm relies on a flexible split-merge procedure built using the particle Gibbs sampler. Contrary to available split-

Spin-dependent pump current and noise in an adiabatic quantum pump based on domain walls in a magnetic nanowire

open access: yes, 2010
We study the pump current and noise properties in an adiabatically modulated magnetic nanowire with double domain walls (DW). The modulation is brought about by applying a slowly oscillating magnetic and electric fields with a controllable phase ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Machine Learning-Driven Framework for Optimal Split Ratio Determination in PMSM Design

open access: yesIEEE Access
The split ratio, which is the ratio of rotor diameter to stator diameter, plays a pivotal role in determining the performance of permanent magnet (PM) motors. This study presents a machine learning-driven framework to optimize the split ratio from a cost-

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION TO FIND THE OPTIMUM DOSE OF STEEL FIBERS IN CONCRETE INCORPORATING ULTRA FINE SLAG [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Engineering Science and Technology, 2018
This paper presents a comparison between split tensile strength of normal concrete by adding 12% ultrafine slag (Alccofine) and varying percentage of steel fibers.

Split sex ratios and the evolutionary origins of eusociality

open access: yesJournal of Theoretical Biology, 1986
The influence of the genetic system of haplodiploidy on the evolution of eusociality has been a central topic in evolutionary biology since it was first discussed by Hamilton (1964) in the context of his invention of inclusive fitness theory. Since then, work on that influence had outstripped the development of inclusive fitness theory itself. Recently,

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.
