Adaptive, online models to detect and estimate gross error in SPNDs
2017 Indian Control Conference (ICC), 2017In-core flux measurement is critical for monitoring and power regulation of a large core nuclear reactor. Self Powered Neutron Detectors (SPNDs) are used for measuring the neutron flux in a nuclear reactor. In this paper we propose an online method for SPND gross error detection, identification and estimation.

A method for prompt calculation of neutron flux from measured SPND currents
Annals of Nuclear Energy, 1997Abstract A new, approximate method is given to calculate the in-core flux from the current of SPND s, with a delay of only a few seconds. The stability of this stepwise algorithm is proven to be satisfactory, and the results of tests performed both on synthetic and on real data are presented.

Design of discrete-time Kalman filter based delay compensator for Rhodium-103 SPND
2018 Indian Control Conference (ICC), 2018Rhodium-103 Self-Powered Neutron Detectors (SPNDs) are used in typical Pressurized Water Reactors (PWRs) for flux measurement. They are slow responding neutron detectors. The slow response of Rhodium-103 SPND restricts its direct use for monitoring, control and determination of parameters like neutron flux distribution, local flux peaking.

VVER Thermal Power Measured Using the Readings of Rhodium Self-powered Neutron Detector (SPND)
Physics of Atomic Nuclei, 2019A procedure for determining the linear heat generation rate in a fuel assembly of VVER reactor at the location of a rhodium self-powered neutron detector (SPND) and verification of this procedure are discussed. A method of measurements of the VVER thermal power based on SPND readings is described.

Self Powered Neutron Detectors (SPNDs), which are widely used in a nuclear reactor for flux measurement, typically have different types of dynamics based on their emitter material: one delayed, second prompt and possibly nonlinear response characteristics. The measurement from the SPNDs hence need compensation to obtain the actual input flux.

Numerical analysis of the space charge effect in SPNDs based on the charge conservation principle
Journal of InstrumentationAbstract Low-energy electrons emitted from self-powered neutron detectors(SPNDs) typically induce the space charge effect, attributed to the intrinsically high resistivity of insulator materials. As a pivotal phenomenon in SPND theoretical simulations, this effect directly impacts both the prediction accuracy of the response

This paper aims to denoise a neutron power sensor data which is the output of Self Powered Neutron Detector (SPND) in each of the Liquid Zone Compartments (LZC) in a nuclear reactor core. Noisy data measured over long period is analyzed with different types of wavelets by one dimensional Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) technique to investigate the ...
