VVER Thermal Power Measured Using the Readings of Rhodium Self-powered Neutron Detector (SPND)

open access: yesPhysics of Atomic Nuclei, 2019
A procedure for determining the linear heat generation rate in a fuel assembly of VVER reactor at the location of a rhodium self-powered neutron detector (SPND) and verification of this procedure are discussed. A method of measurements of the VVER thermal power based on SPND readings is described.

A theoretical study of a nickel SPND using Warren's model

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research, Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 1998
Abstract Various parameters for a nickel SPND viz. neutron and gamma sensitivity, their dependence on detector dimensions, effect of activity build up during irradiation in the reactor on neutron sensitivity and burn up have been calculated using an analytical model by Warren and Shah.

Mesophilic condition favors simultaneous partial nitrification and denitrification (SPND) and anammox for carbon and nitrogen removal from anaerobic digestate food waste effluent

Science of the Total Environment, 2022
Three simultaneous partial nitrification and denitrification (SPND) bioreactors were established on ambient (30 °C), mesophilic (40 °C) and thermophilic condition (50 °C) at high dissolved oxygen levels (2-7 mg L-1) to remove nitrogen and carbon from anaerobic digestate food waste effluent (ADFE).

SPND Operating Experience at Oconee Nuclear Station

IEEE Transactions on Nuclear Science, 1979
This paper presents a comparative performance summary of the incore self-powered neutron detectors (SPND's) used at Oconee through September, 1978. Data reported includes SPND replacement costs, detector failure records, background signal variations, and detector insulation current leakage resistances.

Construction of a Prototype Silver Self-powered Neutron Detector and Simulation of a Developed SPND using MCNP4C Code

Iranian Journal of Science and Technology Transaction A: Science, 2018
Self-powered neutron detectors (SPNDs) are used widely in flux mapping, control, and protection of nuclear reactors. Compared with other neutron detector, SPND has the advantages of small size, low cost, and relatively simple electronics. In this work, a prototype SPND for flux measuring neutron generators has been designed and tested.

Enhanced aerobic granular sludge by static magnetic field to treat saline wastewater via simultaneous partial nitrification and denitrification (SPND) process

Bioresource Technology, 2022
Saline wastewater poses a threat to biological nitrogen removal. This study investigated whether and how static magnetic field (SMF) can improve the salt-tolerance of aerobic granular sludge (AGS) in two simultaneous partial nitrification and denitrification (SPND) reactors.
