Molecular and phylogenetic characterization of Spodoptera litura granulovirus

The Journal of Microbiology, 2008
Baculovirus, Spodoptera litura granulovirus (SlGV) was isolated from the infected S. litura larvae, and was characterized. The granule of SlGV was ovoidal shape with an approximate size of 240 approximately 340 nmx 140 approximately 180 nm. Each granule contained one single rod-shape virion with a mean size of 180 approximately 200 nmx20 approximately ...

Characterization of bro-b Gene of Spodoptera litura Multicapsid Nucleopolyhedrovirus

Virus Genes, 2003
Spodoptera litura multicapsid nucleopolyhedrovirus (SpltMNPV) ORF120 (designated as the bro-a gene) is a member of the unique multigene family called the baculovirus repeated ORFs (bro) family. Computer-assisted analysis revealed that BRO-A does not contain the conserved Bro-N domain in its N-terminus, but contains a single-stranded DNA binding motif ...

Biology and Morphometrics of Spodoptera litura (F.) on Castor

Indian Journal of Entomology, 2022
Biology and morphometrics of Spodoptera litura (F.) was studied by rearing it on castor under laboratory conditions. Morphology of life stages i.e., egg, larva, pupa and adult along with development period were observed. The width of head capsule was observed at each moult as 0.19, 0.25, 0.45, 0.71, 1.31 and 2.13 mm, respectively. The mean growth ratio

Characterization of gp41 gene of Spodoptera litura multicapsid nucleopolyhedrovirus

Virus Research, 2005
Spodoptera litura multicapsid nucleopolyhedrovirus (SpltMNPV) gp41 gene is 993 bp long and the protein encoded by this gene has 6-66% amino acid identities with other known baculovirus GP41 proteins. Slgp41 transcripts were detected from 12 to 96 h post-infection (p.i.) and the mRNA start site was mapped within a consensus baculovirus late promoter ...

Plant Volatiles Modulate Immune Responses of Spodoptera litura

Journal of Chemical Ecology, 2019
Plants emit a specific blend of volatiles in response to herbivory and these volatiles, which often attract predators and parasitoids function as an indirect plant defense. The impact of plant volatiles in shaping herbivore defenses is unclear.

Sperm Precedence of the Last Mating in Spodoptera litura

Annals of the Entomological Society of America, 1979
In the spermatheca of Spodoplera litura (F.) females, a 2nd mating resulted in the expulsion of sperm received from the 1st mating within 30 min of completion of copulation. However, sperm from both 1st and 2nd mating required in excess of 30 min from uncoupling to reach the spermatheca.

Effects of Temperature on the Biology of Spodoptera litura Fab.

The Philippine Entomologist - Volume 7 Issue 6, 1989
Laboratory studies were carried out to determine the effect of temperature on the biology of Spodoptera litura Fab. The highest and lowest number and fertility of eggs were observed at an average temperature of 19.55 and 34.9°C, respectively, while the shortest duration of life cycle (26.6 days) was also recorded at 34.9° C.

Spodoptera litura (taro caterpillar).

2021
Abstract The tobacco caterpillar, S. litura, is one of the most important insect pests of agricultural crops in the Asian tropics. It is widely distributed throughout tropical and temperate Asia, Australasia and the Pacific Islands (Feakin, 1973; Kranz et al., 1977). Records of S. litura having limited distribution in (or being eradicated from)
