IL-17A induces osteoblast differentiation by activating JAK2/STAT3 in ankylosing spondylitis

open access: yesArthritis Research & Therapy, 2018
BackgroundIL-17A has recently emerged as a potential target that regulates the extensive inflammation and abnormal bone formation observed in ankylosing spondylitis (AS). Blocking IL-17A is expected to inhibit bony ankylosis.

Spino‐Pelvic Alignment and Surgical Outcomes in Chinese Elderly With Lumbar Stenosis Syndrome: A Prospective Study

open access: yesAGING MEDICINE, EarlyView.
This study highlights the critical role of maintaining spino‐pelvic alignment in elderly patients with lumbar spinal stenosis. Postsurgical thresholds for PI‐LL (17.7°) and PT (26.1°) were associated with improved clinical outcomes, offering valuable benchmarks for surgical planning and postoperative care to enhance quality of life.

PSORIATIC ARTHRITIS: AN ALGORITHM FOR MAKING A DECISION ON THE CHOICE OF MANAGEMENT TACTICS

open access: yesKlinicist, 2016
Psoriatic arthritis (PA) is a chronic inflammatory disease of the joints, vertebral column, and entheses from a group of seronegative spondyloarthritides, which is observed in patients with psoriasis.

Seronegative spondyloarthropathies : a review : part II: genetics and pathogenesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
In none of the spondyloarthropathies is the pathogenesis well understood. Much of the investigation into the aetio-pathogenesis of these diseases has focused on the association with HLA-B27 and the known triggering potential of certain infectious agents.

Dysbiosis and zonulin upregulation alter gut epithelial and vascular barriers in patients with ankylosing spondylitis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Background: Dysbiosis has been recently demonstrated in patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS) but its implications in the modulation of intestinal immune responses have never been studied.

Modified stoke ankylosing spondylitis spinal score as an outcome measure to assess the impact of treatment on structural progression in ankylosing spondylitis

open access: yesRheumatology, 2018
In ankylosing spondylitis (AS), structural damage that occurs as a result of syndesmophyte formation and ankylosis of the vertebral column is irreversible.

Paradoxical Activation of Entheseal Myeloid Cells by JAK1 and Tyk2 Inhibitors via Interleukin‐10 Antagonism

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective JAK inhibition (JAKi) is effective in seronegative spondyloarthropathy (SpA) spectrum disorders, but Tyk2 inhibition failed in SpA spectrum ulcerative colitis, and tofacitinib showed minimal benefit in Crohn disease, which highlights the complex role for JAK/STAT signaling in different inflammatory processes.
