Spontaneous fission of /sup 259/Md [PDF]

open access: yes, 1979
The mass and kinetic energy distributions of fission fragments from the spontaneous fission of th newly discovered nuclide /sup 259/Md were obtained. /sup 259/Md was identified as the E. C. daughter of /sup 259/No, and was found to decay entirely (> 95%)

Prompt gamma rays from 252Cf(sf) and their angular distributions

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2018
In a recent measurement of prompt γ rays from the spontaneous fission of 252Cf an experimental setup was chosen that allowed the study of angular correlations between γ rays and the nuclei from which they were emitted.

SARS‐CoV‐2 targets mitochondria, exacerbating COVID‐19 pneumonia

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Following entry into airway epithelial cells (AECs), SARS‐CoV‐2 releases its single‐stranded RNA into the cytoplasm, where it is translated into viral proteins. Several of these viral proteins localize to mitochondria and interact with key mitochondrial components.

Irradiated fuel salt data library for a molten salt reactor produced with Serpent2 and SOURCES 4C codes

open access: yesData in Brief
This paper describes the creation and description of a nuclear fuel isotopics dataset for irradiated fuel salt from a Molten Salt Reactor (MSR). The dataset has been created using simulations carried out using the Monte-Carlo particle transport code ...

Neutron anisotropic evaporation and scission emission in fission

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2018
Experimental neutron distributions have been investigated in the spontaneous fission of 252Cf at IPHC in Strasbourg. The CORA experiment associating the CODIS twin ionisation chamber and the neutron multi-detector DEMON aimed to solve an long-standing ...

Correlation between the average prompt neutron multiplicity as a function of the primary mass and the corresponding experimental mass of fragments from 252Cf spontaneous fission

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2019
Using a Monte Carlo simulation, we study the correlations between the average prompt neutron multiplicities as a function of the primary (pre-neutron) mass ν¯s(A) and the corresponding to the final (post-neutron) mass n¯(m) and the pseudo mass (obtained ...

Emission of photons in spontaneous fission of 252Cf.

open access: yesPhysical review. C, Nuclear physics, 1995
High energy photon emission accompanying the spontaneous fission of Cf-252 is measured for different mass splits. The photon yields up to an energy of 20 MeV are obtained at several angles relative to the fission direction. Statistical model calculations are used to interpret the data.

Hypoxia‐induced vulnerability of the somatosensory nervous system

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Sensory neurons are highly energy dependent and rely on sufficient oxygen availability to maintain metabolic stability and effective neurocommunication. Within the somatosensory system, even modest reductions in tissue oxygen tension impair neuronal respiration, forcing a shift toward less efficient metabolic pathways that ...

Spontaneous fission in astrophysics [PDF]

open access: yes
Spontaneous fission (SF) represents a rare yet fundamentally important nuclear decay process, with critical applications in understanding nucleosynthesis and energy generation in astrophysical environments such as neutron star mergers.
