Automated airborne pest monitoring of drosophila suzukii in crops and natural habitats [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Drosophila suzukii has become a serious pest in Europe attacking many soft-skinned crops such as several berry species and grapevines since its spread in 2008 to Spain and Italy.

Laboratory Biology, Immature and Adult Morphology of Trichopria drosophilae (Perkins) (Hymenoptera: Diapriidae), Parasitoids of Drosophila Flies

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, EarlyView.
This study investigates the laboratory biology and morphology of the parasitoid Trichopria drosophilae, which targets Drosophila flies, including the invasive Drosophila suzukii. Key findings include a detailed description of the parasitoid's egg, three larval instars, and pupal stage, as well as unique behaviors such as siblicide and encapsulation in ...

Protocol for genetic engineering in Drosophila suzukii using microinjection

open access: yesSTAR Protocols
Summary: The spotted wing Drosophila (Drosophila suzukii Matsumura) is recognized globally as a significant economic pest. Here, we present a protocol for genetic engineering in D. suzukii using microinjection.

Trichopria drosophilae (Diapriidae) and Leptopilina heterotoma (Figitidae), native parasitoids of Drosophila suzukii, confirmed in Slovenia

open access: yesActa Agriculturae Slovenica, 2019
The Spotted-wing drosophila (SWD), Drosophila suzukii (Matsumura, 1931) (Diptera, Drosophilidae) was recorded for the first time in Slovenia in autumn 2010.

Behavioral Responses of Two Common Woodland Salamanders to Novel Urban Stimuli

open access: yesEthology, EarlyView.
We examined behavioral responses of the Eastern Red‐backed Salamander (Plethodon cinereus) and Northern Ravine Salamander (P. electromorphus) to novel urban stimuli. The Northern Ravine Salamander exhibited increased thigmotaxis in the presence of concrete pavers simulating roads and walkways.

Wing spot in a tropical and a temperate drosophilid: C = C enrichment and conserved thermal response

open access: yesBMC Ecology and Evolution
Wings are primarily used in flight but also play a role in mating behaviour in many insects. Drosophila species exhibit a variety of pigmentation patterns on their wings.

Elicitors of plant defenses as a standalone tactic failed to provide sufficient protection to fruits against spotted-wing drosophila

open access: yesFrontiers in Agronomy
Spotted-wing drosophila, Drosophila suzukii (Matsumura), is a globally important invasive pest of soft-skinned fruits including raspberries, blueberries, and strawberries.

Intrinsic specificity of a ‘core’ TIP60 acetyltransferase complex in Drosophila

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
The intrinsic substrate selectivity of the Drosophila TIP60‐core acetyltransferase was determined using synthetic nucleosome arrays. Targeted mass spectrometry revealed site‐specific acetylation of histones H2A, H2A.V, and H4, uncovering distinct acetylation rates and patterns across individual lysines.
