Spotted Wing Drosophila Control in the Laboratory, 2014

open access: yesArthropod Management Tests, 2015
Assail 30SG (acetamiprid) and AzaGuard (azadirachtin) were evaluated in the laboratory to assess their potential to control spotted wing drosophila (SWD). The products were tested separately with and without added sugar at rates indicated in the tables.

Insect excluding mesh enhances Spotted-wing Drosophila (Drosophila suzukii) control in tunneled raspberry with limited effects on natural enemy abundance

open access: yesAgriculture, Ecosystems & Environment
Spotted-wing Drosophila ( Drosophila suzukii ) oviposits in a wide range of soft and stone fruit, which can result in a reduction of fruit quality and yield. An invasive, polyphagous species, D.

Forest type influence on Heliconia‐dipteran interaction networks

open access: yesInsect Conservation and Diversity, EarlyView.
Responses to forest type depended on the developmental stage of dipterans. Bract traits and forest type influenced larval abundance, but forest type had no impact on adult alpha and beta diversity. Heliconia‐dipteran interaction networks showed a nested pattern for both forest types.

Phytosanitary Cold Treatment of the Spotted Wing Drosophila (Diptera: Drosophilidae) in Postharvest ‘Red Globe’ Grapes

open access: yesHorticulturae
The spotted wing drosophila, Drosophila suzukii (Matsumura), is currently distributed in the main soft-skinned fruits production areas in China and 59 other countries, presenting a significant threat to importing nations. Optimal phytosanitary treatments,

Responses of Fruit Flies (Diptera: Tephritidae) to Protein Bait Applied at Different Densities

open access: yesJournal of Applied Entomology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The effectiveness of odour‐based lures for insects is related to their active space, the air volume around an odour source in which an insect will detect and move towards it. This principle applies to protein baits laced with toxicants that are used as either sprays or stations to suppress pest fruit fly populations.

Drafting the calmodulation playbook: Emerging structural insights into transient receptor potential channel regulation by calmodulin

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Calmodulin (CaM) is a ubiquitous calcium (Ca2+) sensor that translates intracellular Ca2+ signals into modulation of hundreds of effector proteins including ion channels. CaM is increasingly recognized as a key regulator of the transient receptor potential (TRP) channel family, yet the underlying ‘calmodulation playbook’ is only ...

Trapping of Drosophila suzukii [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The spotted wing drosophila (Drosophila suzukii) is a newly introduced pest of soft fruits, stone fruits and grapes in Europe. Various trap types are used for monitoring and mass trapping of this pest.

Effect of a sour cherry orchard on the population dynamics of Spotted Wing Drosophila in an adjacent elderberry plantation

open access: yesJournal of Central European Agriculture
The Spotted Wing Drosophila ( Drosophila suzukii Matsumura, 1931 - SWD) became a crucial pest of soft-skinned fruits in less than a decade in different continents, including Europe.

Molecular bases of insect odorant receptor function: specificity and evolution

open access: yesBiological Reviews, Volume 101, Issue 2, Page 1036-1049, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Insect odorant receptors (ORs) are a class of chemoreceptors that insects use to detect volatile cues in their environment. In recent years, major advances in the field of structural biology have made it possible to obtain the first structures of insect ORs.
