Uninephrectomy in rats on a fixed food intake potentiates both anorexia and circulating cytokine subsets in response to LPS.

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2015
Recent human studies have suggested that mild reduction in kidney function can alter immune response and increase susceptibility to infection. The role of mild reduction in kidney function in altering susceptibility to bacterial lipopolysaccharide (LPS ...

Label-free assaying of testosterone and growth hormones in blood using surface-enhanced raman spectroscopy [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
This work reports the potential use of surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) in rapid, label-free assaying of testosterone (TE) and growth hormone (GH) in whole blood. Biomarker SERS spectral bands from the two hormones (TE and GH) in intentionally spiked water for injection and in male Sprague-Dawley (SD) rat blood are reported.

An Intracranial Epidermal Cyst in a Sprague-Dawley Rat.

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Medical Science, 1994
An intracranial epidermal cyst was found incidentally in a 10-week-old female Sprague-Dawley rat. The cyst was located in the leptomeninx of the longitudinal cerebral fissure, ventral to the corpus callosum and dorsal to the third ventricle. It was approximately 0.7 mm in diameter, lined by stratified squamous epithelium and filled with concentric ...

3D Bioprinting of Thick Adipose Tissues with Integrated Vascular Hierarchies

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 12, March 18, 2025.
An advanced 3D bioprinting technique is used here to create thick adipose tissues with a central, vessel and extensive branching. The construct is made using alginate, gelatin and collagen‐based bioinks. Flow through the complex vessel network is demonstrated as well as its successful integration with a femoral artery following implantation in a rat ...
