U sušioniku s raspršivanjem mogu se sušiti otopine, suspenzije, muljevi i paste, pri čemu u vrlo kratkom vremenu nastaju prašci ujednačenih svojstava i uske raspodjele veličina čestica. Nastali prašci mogu biti amorfni, kristalinični ili miješane strukture, ovisno o vrsti materijala koji se suši kao i uvjetima provedbe procesa.
