Dual‐Layer Living Hydrogel Enables On‐Demand Delivery of Phages and Probiotics for Synergistic Wound Infection Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A dual‐layer living hydrogel, ProΦGel, integrates bacteriophages and probiotics for synergistic wound infection therapy. The outer gelatin‐based matrix releases phages on demand in response to P. aeruginosa infections, while inner alginate beads sustain probiotic delivery.

Characterization of the Spray of the DISI Multi-hole Injector by Means of Phase Doppler Anemometer

open access: yesJournal of Thermal Science and Technology, 2010
The spray from a multi-hole injector applied to direct injection spark ignition (DISI) engine was investigated. In order to understand the detailed structure of the transient spray near the nozzle a combined LDA/PDA system was used.

Using Long‐Chain Polymechanophores to Explore the Differences in Mechanoactivation During Nozzle Flow and Ultrasonication

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Flow through a nozzle is a common component of most fluid‐based polymer processing techniques such as spray drying, inkjet printing, extrusion. An ultrahigh molecular weight multi‐mechanophore system is used to probe the differences in the distribution of mechanical activation observed between nozzle flow and ultrasonication; the gold standard ...

Improved quality of fungicide deposition and coverage of potato leaves using flat fan air-injector nozzle IDK

open access: yesActa Agriculturae Slovenica, 2012
The aim of our experiment was to improve fungicide spray deposition and coverage of potato leaves by using air-injector nozzle types. We used two standard nozzle types - a flat fan nozzle ST and a hollow cone nozzle TR, as well as a couple of air ...

Time-resolved fuel injector flow characterisation based on 3D laser Doppler vibrometry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In order to enable investigations of the fuel flow inside unmodified injectors, we have developed a new experimental approach to measure time-resolved vibration spectra of diesel nozzles using a three dimensional laser vibrometer.

Tissue Engineered Human Elastic Cartilage From Primary Auricular Chondrocytes for Ear Reconstruction

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Despite over three decades of research, no tissue‐engineered solution for auricular reconstruction in microtia patients has reached clinical translation. The key challenge lies in generating functional elastic cartilage ex vivo. Here, we integrate synergistic cell‐biomaterial strategies to engineer auricular grafts with mechanical and histological ...
