Momentum flux is a very important parameter for predicting the mixing potential of injection processes. Important factors such as spray penetration, spray cone angle, and air entrainment depend largely on spray momentum. In this article, a model is obtained which is able to predict the spray tip penetration using as an input the spray momentum flux ...

Effect of ambient pressure on penetration of a diesel spray
International Journal of Multiphase Flow, 2007In the present experimental and theoretical work the propagation of a high-speed fuel spray at distances much longer than the breakup length is studied. The motion of the spray is modeled in two regions: the main region of the steady flow and the front region of the spray. The analysis yields the equation of propagation of the tip of the spray.

Review of 1D Spray Tip Penetration Models and Fuel Properties Influence on Spray Penetration
SAE International Journal of Engines, 2020<div>In this article different one-dimensional (1D) models for spray penetration have been reviewed and investigated to confirm their validity. For each model, the underlying assumptions and the main equations were discussed in detail. A comparison between calculated data using these models and measured data showed that one specific semiempirical

A model for fuel spray penetration
Fuel, 2001A new model for fuel spray penetration (location of spray tip) is suggested and validated against available experimental data. Simple analytical expressions for fuel spray penetration are derived in two limiting cases: the initial stage and the two-phase flow regime. At the initial stage, the effects of droplet drag and entrainment of air are accounted
