Modelling of spray evaporation and penetration for alternative fuels [PDF]
Abstract The focus of this work is on the modelling of evaporation and spray penetration for alternative fuels. The extension model approach is presented and validated for alternative fuels, namely, Kerosene (KE), Ethanol (ETH), Methanol (MTH), Microalgae biofuel (MA), Jatropha biofuel (JA), and Camelina biofuel (CA).

Prediction of Spray Penetration by Means of Spray Momentum Flux
SAE Technical Paper Series, 2006<div class="htmlview paragraph">It is known that one of the main parameters that govern the spray penetration development is spray momentum flux. In this paper, a model capable to predict the development of the spray penetration using as an input the temporal variation of the spray momentum flux is presented. The model is based on the division of

Measurement of liquid penetration and vapour penetration of evaporating methanol sprays
Atomization and Sprays, 2020The objective of this study is to investigate spray characteristics such as liquid penetration and vapor penetration of methanol sprays under evaporative conditions. The spray characteristics were measured in an optically accessible constant volume chamber filled with nitrogen at pressures and temperatures of relevance to engine conditions.

Comparison of the Various Correlations for Spray Penetration
SAE Technical Paper Series, 1972<div class="htmlview paragraph">A survey of spray literature has been carried out in order to find all those works containing a theoretical or experimental correlation of spray penetration variables. Twelve such works were found.</div> <div class="htmlview paragraph">Three hypothetical sets of conditions based on actual data from the ...

The initial stage of fuel spray penetration☆
Fuel, 2003Effects of droplet evaporation, break-up and air entrainment on diesel fuel spray penetration have been studied theoretically at the initial stage of spray penetration when the influence of air entrainment is small (up to 0.1–0.2 ms after the start of injection).

Spray Penetration and Drop Size Analysis
Volume 2: Fora, 2005Understanding the disintegration mechanism, spray penetration, and spray motion is of great importance in the design of a high quality diesel engine. The atomization process that a liquid would undergo as it is injected into a high-temperature, high-pressure air, is investigated in this work.

Penetration of Diesel Fuel Sprays in Gases
SAE Technical Paper Series, 1966<div class="htmlview paragraph">The penetration of diesel fuel sprays in gas has been measured on a static rig over a range of conditions. The main finding was that penetration was affected by gas temperature more than predicted by some existing formulae. A new correlation has been derived to fit the data. Preliminary results from observations on

Penetration and Vaporization of Diesel Fuel Sprays
Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Conference Proceedings, 1969In the diesel engine, fuel is injected into the hot, compressed air in the combustion chamber. Thus the process of diesel combustion is essentially inhomogeneous, and the mixing of the fuel and air in the combustion chamber dominates the whole combustion process.
