Recent Patents In Spread Spectrum Systems
Recent Patents on Electrical & Electronic Engineering, 2013During the last decade, spread spectrum techniques have become more and more popular in the field of mobile communication systems. In particular, satellite systems (GPS and Galileo) as well as the third generation radio mobile system have adopted the direct sequence spread spectrum as the communication technology of the physical layer.

Improvements of Antijam Performance of Spread-Spectrum Systems
IEEE Transactions on Communications, 1983The present paper gives theoretical analysis and simulation tests of a proposed external circuit connection for enhancing the performance of spread-spectrum (SS) systems in the presence of continuous wave (CW) interference. This connection is an adaptive notch filter. It consists of a hard limiter, a phase-locked-loop (PLL) tracking the CW interference

Periodic Oppermann sequences for spread spectrum systems
IEEE Information Theory Workshop, 2005., 2005In this paper we introduce periodic Oppermann sequences, which constitute a special class of polyphase sequences. The properties of these sequences are presented, and indicate that periodic Oppermann sequences are suitable for combination to generate families of longer sequences. Numerical examples show that periodic Oppermann sequences can be designed

A Spread-Spectrum Analysis and Design Laboratory System
MILCOM 1982 - IEEE Military Communications Conference - Progress in Spread Spectrum Communications, 1982Spread-Spectrum waveforms are used commonly for Anti-Jam (A/J) and Low-Probability-of-Intercept (LPI) applications, but their effectiveness is difficult to assess owing to the diversity of system parameters and to various user requirements. This paper describes a spread-spectrum analysis and design laboratory system consisting of a software analysis ...

Combination Oppermann sequences for spread spectrum systems
Proceedings. International Symposium on Information Theory, 2005. ISIT 2005., 2005Numerous spread spectrum applications require families of long spreading sequences, often used at very high chip rates. In this paper, an algebraically simple way of generating long sequences by combining shorter polyphase sequences is presented, aimed at asynchronous spread spectrum systems.

On the performance of coexisting spread spectrum systems
11th IEEE International Symposium on Personal Indoor and Mobile Radio Communications. PIMRC 2000. Proceedings (Cat. No.00TH8525), 2002Wireless communication services may in the future be provided by a larger number of operators than provide the services today. A key enabling factor is the possibility to automatically share the radio spectrum. Bandwidth efficiency is defined as the number of users that can be supported by a base station in a given spectrum. The bandwidth efficiency in

Acquisition Time Performance of PN Spread-Spectrum Systems
IEEE Transactions on Communications, 1977This paper develops the mean and variance of the time to acquire for single dwell time PN-type spread-spectrum systems. A model is specified, and then exact results are obtained by use of the generating function for the acquisition process. The paper is somewhat tutorial in that the analysis technique is developed in a logical step-to-step manner for ...

Spectrum efficiency of spread spectrum systems
IEEE 1988 International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility, 2003The capabilities of direct-sequence pseudo-noise (DSPN) systems are compared with those of both conventional and trunked LMR systems. It is shown that not only do DSPN systems provide the same advantages over conventional systems as trunking systems, but also they provide many additional features as well without loss of spectrum conservation. >

Spread Spectrum Communication Systems
1980Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the spread spectrum communication systems. A classical method of information transmission applicable for analog signals that employs such a bandspreading technique, and thereby offers interference suppression is frequency modulation (FM).

An offset-Z search strategy for spread spectrum systems
IEEE Transactions on Communications, 1995A new Z search method is proposed which can significantly improve mean acquisition time when compared with the best previous Z search strategy. The codephase search starts from a position offset from centre of a range which has been determined from a priori information.
