Biomechanical and Displacement‐Related Considerations in the Design of a 3D‐Printed Composite Energy‐Storage‐and‐Return Prosthetic Foot

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, Volume 10, Issue 16, August 21, 2025.
For the first time, Continuous Fiber‐Reinforced 3D printing is used to fabricate a foot prosthesis, exploring the flexibility in the design space granted by additive manufacturing, evaluating computationally and experimentally the effect of different design features on the mechanical and biomechanical response of the material, to locally tune the ...

Barkhausen Noise‐ and Eddy Current‐Based Measurements for Online Detection of Deformation‐Induced Martensite During Flow Forming of Metastable Austenitic Steel AISI 304L

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 7, Issue 1, January 2025.
Barkhausen noise (BN)‐ and eddy currents (EC)‐based sensor systems were tested to detect deformation‐induced martensite during flow forming of austenitic steel 304L. The results with EC have advantages over those with BN due to the good correlation with reference α′‐martensite measurements and the low influence of factors such as roughness.

Dynamic Evaluation Method of Straightness Considering Time-Dependent Springback in Bending-Straightening Based on GA-BP Neural Network

open access: yesMachines, 2022
There is a time-dependent springback phenomenon seen during the process of the bending-straightening of slender shafts, which has a great influence on the evaluation of straightness after straightening, creating a risk of misjudgment. This paper presents

Impact of elastic modulus evolution on springback prediction

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering, 2023
Abstract Today, the hardening Yoshida-Uemori model is implemented in the most used FEA stamping codes (Autoform®, Pamstamp®, LS-Dyna®…) with occasionally some variations. This forming material card is requested regularly by the car manufacturers.

Low‐Volume Cores for Fabrication of Compact, Versatile, and Intelligent Soft Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 34, Issue 46, November 12, 2024.
This study introduces a novel fabrication strategy that uses thin flexible sheets as low‐volume cores (LVC) for the molding process of soft robotic devices. The low‐profile chamber features of soft devices enable efficient and compact multi‐degree‐of‐freedom actuations as well as fully soft and monolithic logic components, which makes these components ...

Effect of mechanical properties, microstructure and residual stress on the bending springback behavior of high-strength Al–Mg–Si–Cu alloy tubes

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
In this work, the bending behavior of high-strength Al–Mg–Si–Cu alloys and AA6061 under different artificial aging condition was investigated. The existing springback prediction formula is suitable for commercial AA6061 alloy, but not for high-strength ...

Yoshida-Uemori model: Improvement of the elastic modulus evolutive model and Springback application [PDF]

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences
Today, a combined hardening model coupled with the elastic evolution modulus which depends on the equivalent plastic strain, called Yoshida-Uemori model, is recommended for an improved springback prediction in stamping numerical simulation.

Investigating the Convertibility and Barrier Performance of a Novel Suberin Dispersion Coating During the Paperboard Creasing Process

open access: yesPackaging Technology and Science, Volume 37, Issue 11, Page 1037-1048, November 2024.
The convertibility and barrier properties of a novel suberin dispersion coating were examined and compared with those of six commercial coatings. Paperboard coated with the suberin dispersion initially acquired a barrier that was comparable to the commercial products but experienced severe damage after creasing.
