The Torque Responses in Spur Gearing

Volume 1A: 25th Biennial Mechanisms Conference, 1998
Abstract In this study, the frequency spectra of a meshing spur gear pair are derived. A two-step mesh stiffness model is assumed to account for the time varying stiffness during the teeth engagement. The analytic load of this simplified gear pair system is used to derive the corresponding Fourier expansion series of the transmitted ...

Gear Cutting I, Spur Gears

1987
The simplest method by which a gear can be cut is to use a tool shaped exactly like the tooth space of the gear. This method of cutting gears is known as form cutting. In practice, the cutting tool is generally a milling cutter, such as the one shown in Figure 5.1. The gear blank is held stationary while the cutter is fed slowly in the direction of the

Interference Between External Spur Gears

2020
In this chapter, the problems of interference between external spur gears in both cutting and working conditions are first described and discussed. The discussion is quite general and therefore includes involute or primary interference and fillet interference.

Simplified Spur Gear Design

Volume 11: Systems, Design, and Complexity, 2016
A simplified design method (SDM) for spur gears is presented. The Hertz contact stress and Lewis root bending stress capacity models for spur gears have been reformulated and formatted into simplified forms. A scheme is suggested for estimating the AGMA J-factor in Lewis root bending stress for spur gears from a single curve for both pinion and gear ...

Manufacturing of Spur Gears, Helical Gears, and Splines

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1968
<div class="htmlview paragraph">This paper describes and illustrates some of the manufacturing techniques being used to produce steel spur gears, helical gears, and splines. Applications of these techniques and their suitability based upon the end use of the product are also indicated.</div> <div class="htmlview paragraph">The paper ...

Load Capacity of the HCR-Spur Gears in Comparison with Standard Spur Gears

1998
This paper deals with the load capacity of high contact ratio (HCR) external involute spur gears with theoretically accurate profile in comparison with the standard external involute gears. First, tooth root and Hertzian stress for a HCR- and standard gear pairs are calculated according to DIN 3990 and then compared.
