Oscillatory square cavity flows of binary gas mixtures

Physics of Fluids, 2021
The linear oscillation of rarefied binary gas mixtures inside a two-dimensional square cavity is studied based on the McCormack model. The discrete unified gas kinetic scheme is applied to solving this problem over wide ranges of the Knudsen number and the oscillation frequency.

Ventilation of Square Cavity Containing a Heat Source

Defect and Diffusion Forum, 2021
A numerical simulation of turbulent mixed convection of a ventilated cavity containing a heat source placed of the center has been carried out. This cavity is outfitted along couple holes: one placed within the lower left corner and the other in the top right corner. The width of the hole "H" represents is 1/5 of the length of the cavity side.

Natural convection in an open square cavity with slots

International Communications in Heat and Mass Transfer, 2008
Abstract In this paper, we investigate heat transfer by natural convection in an open cavity in which a uniform heat flux is applied to the inside active wall facing the opening with slots. Conservation equations are solved by finite difference–control volume numerical method.

Interferometric study of transient convection in a square cavity

Experimental Thermal and Fluid Science, 1993
An experimental study of transient natural convection in an air- filled square cavity is reported here. The top and bottom walls of the cavity are maintained at uniform temperatures at all times in an unstably stratified configuration. The side walls of the cavity are insulated.

High Marangoni number convection in a square cavity: Part II

Physics of Fluids A: Fluid Dynamics, 1990
Steady thermocapillary flow is examined in a square two-dimensional cavity with a single free surface and differentially heated side walls. The numerical solutions are obtained with a finite difference method applied to a streamfunction-temperature formulation.

Buoyant Marangoni convection of nanofluids in square cavity

Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, 2015
The buoyant Marangoni convection heat transfer in a differentially heated cavity is numerically studied. The cavity is filled with water-Ag, water-Cu, water-Al2O3, and water-TiO2 nanofluids. The governing equations are based on the equations involving the stream function, vorticity, and temperature.

High Marangoni number convection in a square cavity

The Physics of Fluids, 1985
The steady thermocapillary motion in a square cavity with a top free surface in the absence of gravitational forces is considered. The cavity is heated from the side with the vertical boundaries isothermal while the horizontal boundaries are adiabatic. The relative change in the surface tension is very small, i.e., an appropriate capillary number tends

Natural Convection Inside Square Cavities Partially Heated From Below

Proceeding of Thermal Sciences 2004. Proceedings of the ASME - ZSIS International Thermal Science Seminar II, 2004
A numerical analysis of natural convection in air-filled, 2-D square enclosures, with imposed uniform heat flux at a portion of the bottom wall and uniform temperature at the top and side walls, is carried out. The study is conducted for the laminar flow regime through a specifically developed numerical code based on the SIMPLE algorithm, which is used
