Turbine blade tip cooling and heat transfer

open access: yes, 2004
Turbine blade tip leakage flow from blade pressure side to suction side over the tip surface increases the thermal loading to the blade tip, leading to a high local temperature and thus, is considered one of the primary sources of blade failure.

Effects of IGFBP4 deficiency on human preadipocyte proliferation and differentiation through the IGF1R/AKT pathway

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
IGFBP4 knockdown (KD) impairs preadipocyte proliferation and is associated with IGF1R protein downregulation and attenuated AKT phosphorylation. The mechanisms by which IGFBP4 KD influences the IGF1R/AKT signaling pathway involve newly synthesized proteins and lysosomal degradation pathways. Created in BioRender.

Evaluation of Digital Technologies for Home‐Based Assessment in People With Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Digital technologies hold promise for transforming healthcare by enhancing personalized treatments and offer valuable opportunities to improve patient care. Here, we evaluated several novel, self‐administered, home‐based, digital endpoints for their association with corresponding conventional standard clinical measures (primary) in ...

Effects of rotor squealer tip with non-uniform heights on heat transfer characteristic and flow structure of turbine stage

open access: yes
Squealer tip has a significant influence on both aerodynamic and heat transfer characteristics of the high-pressure turbine. Among the geometric parameters of the squealer, squealer height is one of the essential parameters in the tip design.

Prominent Movement Disorders in RNU2‐2‐Related Spliceosomopathy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Pediatric movement disorders often overlap with neurodevelopmental diseases, suggesting shared molecular mechanisms. Variants in small nuclear RNA (snRNA) genes encoding spliceosome components have recently been associated with neurodevelopmental disorders, termed “RNUopathies.” We analyzed genome sequencing data from 14 patients with ...

Winglet Geometries Applied to Rotor Blades of a Hydraulic Axial Turbine Used as a Turbopump: A Parametric Analysis

open access: yesEnergies
Turbines are rotating machines that generate power by the expansion of a fluid; due to their characteristics, these turbomachines are widely applied in aerospace propulsion systems.

Numerical investigation of squealer tip performances for GGT blades

open access: yes, 2016
The influence of tip gap on gas generator turbine efficiency is so significant that designers have a strong desire to improve the efficiency by decreasing the tip to shroud operating gaps (but there are impassable mechanical limits), or by implementing ...

An experimental investigation of adiabatic film cooling effectiveness and heat transfer coefficient on a transonic squealer tip

open access: yes, 2018
The effect of film cooling on a high pressure turbine blade with an open squealer tip has been examined in a high speed linear cascade. The cascade operates at engine realistic Mach and Reynolds numbers, producing transonic flow conditions over the blade

Retractions in Rheumatology: Trends, Causes, and Implications for Research Integrity

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective We aimed to describe the trends and main reasons for study retraction in rheumatology literature. Methods We reviewed the Retraction Watch database to identify retracted articles in rheumatology. We recorded the main study characteristics, authors’ countries, reasons for retraction, time from publication to retraction, and trends over time ...
