The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

The behaviour of magnetorheological fluids in squeeze mode [PDF]
Magnetorheological (MR) fluids possess rheological properties, which can be changed in a controlled way. These rheological changes are reversible and dependent on the strength of an excitation magnetic field.

Effect of Significant Parameters on Squeeze Film Characteristics in Pathological Synovial Joints
Synovial joints are unique biological tribo-systems that allow for efficient mobility. Most of the synovial joint activities in the human body are accomplished due to the presence of synovial fluid.

Evaluating Energy Absorption Performance of Filled Lattice Structures
Maximum stress must be considered to robustly evaluate energy absorber designs. This approach was applied to compare all types of absorbers in a single Ashby diagram and determine the utility of filling lattice voids with a second material. High‐performance fillers can improve the performance of lattices that are limited by buckling or catastrophic ...

On Non-Newtonian Rabinowitsch Fluid Squeeze Film Lubrication between Rough Circular Stepped Plates
In this paper the effect of surface roughness on squeeze film lubrication between circular stepped plates is analysed. The modified non-linear averaged Reynolds type equation is derived on the basis of Christensen’s stochastic theory for rough surfaces ...
