Role of Liquid Composition in the Transient Liquid Assisted Growth of Superconducting YBa2Cu3O7‐δ Films

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The Y supersaturation in the [Ba‐Cu(I/II)‐O] transient liquid composition is the driving force toward YBCO nucleation and growth in TLAG. Tuning the initial (Ba:Cu) molar ratio in the ink composition determines the YBCO epitaxial nucleation through supersaturation control.

Strain matters: host responses reflect symbiont origin in the squid-vibrio symbiosis

open access: yesmSystems
Understanding the cause and consequences of bacterial strain variation remains a challenge in the study of symbioses. While the diverse reactions of the host immune system to strain variants have been well studied in pathogenesis, much less is known ...

Cephalopod Ink: Production, Chemistry, Functions and Applications

open access: yesMarine Drugs, 2014
One of the most distinctive and defining features of coleoid cephalopods—squid, cuttlefish and octopus—is their inking behavior. Their ink, which is blackened by melanin, but also contains other constituents, has been used by humans in various ways for ...

Solvent‐Free Thermal Defect Engineering in Molecular Frameworks With Volatile Linkers

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Thermal removal of neutral volatile linkers enables precise and solvent‐free generation of metal vacancies in MOFs. This strategy affords redox‐stable, coordinatively unsaturated FeII sites with tunable spin, ligand coordination, and catalytic behavior. The approach offers a general route to design defect‐functional materials through local coordination

Hemodynamic Instability during Squid Embolization of Dural Arteriovenous Fistula: A Case Report [PDF]

open access: yesNeurointervention
There are few documented cases of bradycardia or asystole occurring during Onyx embolization of intracranial dural arteriovenous fistulas (DAVFs), although these events are more commonly observed in open neurosurgical procedures, particularly those ...

Comparison of physicochemical and volatile flavor properties of neon flying squid (Ommastrephes bartramii), jumbo squid (Dosidicus gigas), and Argentine shortfin squid (Illex argentinus) during chilled storage

open access: yesFrontiers in Nutrition, 2023
The difference and similarities in the physicochemical and volatile flavor properties were determined in neon flying squid (OB), jumbo squid (DG), and Argentine squid (IA) mantles during 8 days of chilled storage.

2D Co‐Mo‐Hydroxide‐Based Multifunctional Material for the Development of H2‐Based Clean Energy Technologies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
2D α‐Co(OH)2 interleaved with Mo species displays an appealing dual functionality for the production and use of green hydrogen.Mo incorporation greatly benefits the electrochemical behaviour in Oxygen Evolution Reaction for H2 production, while the magnetocaloric response at liquid H2 temperature paves the way for alternative cryogenic refrigerants ...

Vertical Distribution Patterns of Cephalopods in the Northern Gulf of Mexico

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2020
Cephalopods are important in midwater ecosystems of the Gulf of Mexico (GOM) as both predator and prey. Vertical distribution and migration patterns (both diel and ontogenic) are not known for the majority of deep-water cephalopods.

Signatures of Edge States in Antiferromagnetic Van der Waals Josephson Junctions

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The combination of superconductivity and magnetic textures leads to unconventional superconducting phenomena, including new correlated and topological phases. Van der Waals (vdW) materials emerge as a versatile platform for exploring the interplay between these two competing orders.
