Effects of Glazing with Preservatives on the Quality Changes of Squid during Frozen Storage

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
This study aimed to investigate the effects of glazing with sodium polyacrylate (SP) and D-sodium erythorbate (DSE) on the quality changes of squid during frozen storage. Frozen squid samples were randomly divided into seven groups: (1) CK (unglazed); (2)

Hawaiian bobtail squid [PDF]

open access: yesCurrent Biology, 2008
What is a bobtail squid? Euprymna scolopes (Figure 1Figure 1) is a small sepiolid squid, or bobtail squid, occurring in the marine coastal environment of the Hawaiian archipelago. Whereas most other squid are always out and about, the bobtail squid buries itself in the sand during its daylight quiescent period.

Ferromagnetism of Molecular Beam Epitaxy‐grown Ultra‐thin Cr2Ge2Te6 Films Down to the Monolayer Limit on Si Substrates

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Uniform monolayer Cr2Ge2Te6 films are achieved on Si substrates by molecular beam epitaxy. Intrinsic ferromagnetism with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy is established in the films by anomalous Hall effect and superconducting quantum interference device measurements, albeit with strong magnetic fluctuations characteristic of its 2D nature.

Rationale for the development of an innovative product with the addition of hydrobionts within the framework of the ESG challenges

open access: yesНовые технологии
At present food industry must meet the global challenges that we face. The first one is hunger; the population continues to grow, it is necessary to meet nutritional needs by increasing funding for the development of agricultural areas and introducing ...

Anomalous Crystallinity and Magnetism in Chemically Disordered Coherent Heterostructures

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Coherent isostructural high‐entropy oxide heterostructures are realized despite remarkable >5% interfacial lattice distortion. The resulting buried interface exhibits abrupt valence reconstruction which contributes to 2 × enhanced exchange bias in the heterostructure relative to constituent layers, demonstrating how chemical disorder enabled anomalous ...

Gelatin–Tea Tree Essential Oil Coating Improves the Quality, Flavor, and Micromolecular Metabolites of Squid (Illex argentinus) Muscle During Cold Storage

open access: yesFoods
Squid muscle is delicious and nutritious, but it is highly susceptible to spoilage, severely limiting its market development. This study comprehensively evaluated the effects of gelatin (Gel), essential oil (Ess), and Gel + Ess coating on the quality ...

Controllable π SQUID [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Physics Letters, 2001
We have fabricated and studied a promising kind of direct current superconducting quantum interference device (dc-SQUID) in which the magnitude and sign of the critical current of the individual Josephson junctions can be controlled by additional voltage probes connected to the junctions.

Magnetic DNA Origami Nanorotors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetic actuation is a powerful and broadly applicable actuation mechanism due to its programmability and compatibility with biological entities. Here we demonstrate magnetic DNA origami nanorotors (MADONAs) by assembling magnetic nanocubes on DNA origami.

Impact of environmental conditions on English Channel long-finned squid (Loligo spp.) recruitment strength and spatial location

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science
The English Channel has the highest long-finned squid landings in the Northeast Atlantic, making squid one of the most valuable resources exploited by demersal fisheries operating in this area.

Advances in SQUID magnetometers [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Electron Devices, 1980
The operation and noise limitations of de and RF SQUID's are outlined, and recent advances in their sensitivity are discussed. A model of the dc SQUID predicts an energy noise level per hertz referred to the SQUID of approximately 8 k_{B}TL/R \approx 8 k_{B}T(\piLC)^{1/2} , where L, R, and C are the SQUID inductance and the shunt resistance and ...
