Behavioral response of purpleback flying squid Sthenoteuthis oualaniensis (Mollusk; Cephalopod) to the flashlight artificial bait colors

open access: yesFisheries and Aquatic Sciences, 2023
This study aimed to know the response of deep-sea squid Sthenoteuthis oualaniensis to the light colors of the artificial bait. This experiment used the commercial artificial flashlight baits commonly sold in the fishing shop.

Measuring the Hall Effect in Hysteretic Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The authors highlight common pitfalls in measuring the Hall effect: in hysteretic magnets, improper data processing can create signals that look exotic but are not real. This Perspective explains the origin of these artifacts and presents practical measurement strategies that help researchers identify reliable Hall responses in complex magnetic ...

Biological aspects of squid (Loligo edulis) in the waters of Eastern North Sumatra, Indonesia

open access: yesDepik Jurnal, 2023
Squid is one of the non-fish resources that have economic value and is a target species in demersal fisheries activities with squid fishing gear and stick-held deep net. This research aims to determine the biological aspects of squid (Loligo edulis) such

Effect of squid hydrolysate and squid powder on the quality characteristics of dried noodles with squid

open access: yesKorean Journal of Food Preservation, 2019
This study aimed the quality characteristics of dried noodles with squid (SDN) using squid enzyme hydrolysate and steamed and dried squid powder (SP) to obtain basic data for developing SDN with excellent taste, flavor and nutritive value. Since commercially available squid enzyme hydrolysates containing protease NP (P-NP) display high values of ...

Weak In‐Plane Ferromagnetism and Electronic Nematicity in the Distorted Triple‐Q Magnetic Phase of Co1/3TaS2

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Co1/3TaS2${\rm Co}_{1/3}{\rm TaS}_{2}$ hosts a triple‐Q noncoplanar antiferromagnetic state with coexisting Z3${\rm Z}_3$ electronic nematicity. We report rotational hysteresis observed in both magnetoresistance and magnetic torque, revealing strongly pinned in‐plane weak ferromagnetic moments in the triple‐Q phase and the magnetism‐driven nature of ...

Hawaiian bobtail squid [PDF]

open access: yesCurrent Biology, 2008
What is a bobtail squid? Euprymna scolopes (Figure 1Figure 1) is a small sepiolid squid, or bobtail squid, occurring in the marine coastal environment of the Hawaiian archipelago. Whereas most other squid are always out and about, the bobtail squid buries itself in the sand during its daylight quiescent period.

Unveiling Exsolution‐Induced Giant Electronic and Magnetic Property Changes in Non‐Stoichiometric Titanate Perovskite Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A giant insulator to metal transition and emergent superparamagnetism are revealed by nanoparticle exsolution in non‐stoichiometric titanate perovskite thin films. By combining transport, synchrotron spectroscopy, and first‐principles calculations, this work reveals how defect reconfiguration and lattice reconstruction fundamentally reshape electronic ...

SQUID-based microwave cavity search for dark-matter axions. [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2009
Axions in the microeV mass range are a plausible cold dark-matter candidate and may be detected by their conversion into microwave photons in a resonant cavity immersed in a static magnetic field.

Ferromagnetism of Molecular Beam Epitaxy‐grown Ultra‐thin Cr2Ge2Te6 Films Down to the Monolayer Limit on Si Substrates

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Uniform monolayer Cr2Ge2Te6 films are achieved on Si substrates by molecular beam epitaxy. Intrinsic ferromagnetism with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy is established in the films by anomalous Hall effect and superconducting quantum interference device measurements, albeit with strong magnetic fluctuations characteristic of its 2D nature.
