Unveiling Aggregation‐Induced Singlet Fission in Push–Pull Diketopyrrolopyrrole Water Dispersed Nanoaggregates and Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Aggregates of diketopyrrolopyrrole dipolar and quadrupolar systems exhibit panchromatic absorption spectra extending in the entire visible range. Upon aggregation in water and in the solid state, their fluorescence is almost completely quenched and their singlet excited state lifetime is significantly shortened.

Lipoprotein lipase mediates an increase in selective uptake of HDL-associated cholesteryl esters by cells in culture independent of scavenger receptor BI

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2001
Scavenger receptor class B type I (SR-BI) mediates the selective uptake of HDL cholesteryl esters (CEs) by the liver. LPL promotes this selective lipid uptake independent of lipolysis.

11HDL-induced cardioprotection is independent of the HDL receptor, scavenger receptor B1 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Purpose: High-density lipoproteins (HDL) are atheroprotective. New evidence shows that HDL has widespread actions, including protection against cardiac ischemia reperfusion injury (IRI).

Primary hepatocytes as targets for hepatitis C virus replication [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Much of our current understanding of hepatitis C virus (HCV) replication has hailed from the use of a small number of cloned viral genomes and transformed hepatoma cell lines.

Influence of aspirin on SR-BI expression in human carotid plaques [PDF]

open access: yesAtherosclerosis, 2009
We recently showed that aspirin promotes scavenger receptor class-B type I (SR-BI) protein expression in vitro in primary human macrophages and in vivo in resident peritoneal macrophages of mice.We compared SR-BI and CD68 expression in carotid atherosclerotic specimens from endarterectomized patients with (n=38) or without (n=19) low-dose aspirin ...

Three‐dimensional Antimony Sulfide Based Flat Optics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents the development of a grayscale electron beam lithography (g‐EBL) method for fabricating antimony trisulfide (Sb2S3) nanostructures with customizable 3D profiles. The refractive index of g‐EBL patterned Sb2S3 is determined based on the synergy of genetic algorithm and transfer matrix method.

The SR-BI Partner PDZK1 Facilitates Hepatitis C Virus Entry

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens, 2010
Entry of hepatitis C virus (HCV) into hepatocytes is a multi-step process that involves a number of different host cell factors. Following initial engagement with glycosaminoglycans and the low-density lipoprotein receptor, it is thought that HCV entry proceeds via interactions with the tetraspanin CD81, scavenger receptor class B type I (SR-BI), and ...

From In‐Silico Optimized Microfabrication to Experimental Validation: Engineering a Tridimensional Epi‐Intraneural Interface

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An epi‐intraneural interface is developed through in silico optimization and a novel tridimensional microfabrication pipeline. The device integrates penetrating and epineural contacts on a flexible substrate. Mechanical, electrochemical, and in vivo testing in rat and pig reveal robust implantation, low‐threshold activation, and site‐dependent ...

Caveolin-1 deficiency alters plasma lipid and lipoprotein profiles in mice. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Caveolae are specialized membrane microdomains formed as the result of local accumulation of cholesterol, glycosphingolipids, and the structural protein caveolin-1 (Cav-1).

Control of Polarization and Polar Helicity in BiFeO3 by Epitaxial Strain and Interfacial Chemistry

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In BiFeO3 thin films, the interplay of interfacial chemistry, electrostatics, and epitaxial strain is engineered to stabilize homohelicity in polarization textures at the domain scale. The synergistic use of a Bi2O2‐terminated Aurivillius buffer layer and a highly anisotropic compressive epitaxial strain offers new routes to control the polar‐texture ...
