Genome-wide mapping reveals single-origin chromosome replication in Leishmania, a eukaryotic microbe [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Background DNA replication initiates on defined genome sites, termed origins. Origin usage appears to follow common rules in the eukaryotic organisms examined to date: all chromosomes are replicated from multiple origins, which display variations in ...

Analysis of genetic distance by SSR in waxy maize

open access: yesGenetics and Molecular Research, 2012
We examined the genetic diversity of 80 inbred waxy maize lines using 22 SSR molecular markers that could be used to achieve heterosis in waxy maize. Eighty inbred waxy maize lines with different phenotypes, 40 yellow, 25 white, 13 black, and two red lines were analyzed by SSR molecular marker fingerprint and cluster analysis.

SSR and SNP Marker-Based Investigation of Indian Rice Landraces in Relation to Their Genetic Diversity, Population Structure, and Geographical Isolation

open access: yesAgriculture, 2023
India is blessed with an abundance of diverse rice landraces in its traditional cultivated areas. Two marker systems (simple sequence repeats (SSR) and single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP)) were used to study a set of 298 rice landrace accessions ...

Analysis of SSR dynamics in chloroplast genomes of Brassicaceae family [PDF]

open access: yesBioinformation, 2010
Simple sequence repeats (SSRs) are present abundantly in most eukaryotic genomes. They affect several cellular processes like chromatin organization, regulation of gene activity, DNA repair, DNA recombination, etc. Though considerable data exists on using nuclear SSRs to infer phylogenetic relationships, the potential of chloroplast microsatellites ...

Reducing noise in moving-grid codes with strongly-centroidal Lloyd mesh regularization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
A method for improving the accuracy of hydrodynamical codes that use a moving Voronoi mesh is described. Our scheme is based on a new regularization scheme that constrains the mesh to be centroidal to high precision while still allowing the cells to move

Identifying SSR Markers Related to Seed Fatty Acid Content in Perilla Crop (Perilla frutescens L.)

open access: yesPlants, 2021
Perilla seed oil has been attracting attention in South Korea as a health food. Five fatty acids of 100 Perilla accessions were identified as follows: palmitic acid (PA) (5.10–9.13%), stearic acid (SA) (1.70–3.99%), oleic acid (OA) (11.1–21.9%), linoleic

The newly developed genomic-SSR markers uncover the genetic characteristics and relationships of olive accessions [PDF]

open access: yesPeerJ, 2020
Background Olive (Olea europaea L.) is an important oil and fruit crop worldwide, owning a rich germplasm with a large number of cultivars. Simple sequence repeats (SSRs) are excellent markers and have been used for the identification of olive cultivars.
