Detection of New Leptospira Genotypes Infecting Symptomatic Dogs: Is a New Vaccine Formulation Needed?

open access: yesPathogens, 2020
Leptospirosis in dogs has been largely described worldwide, and epidemiological studies have been mainly based on serological data. This study aims to detect and genotype leptospires affecting symptomatic dogs in Northeast Italy between 2013 and 2019 ...

Unveiling the Genetic Diversity and Antimicrobial Resistance Profiles of Salmonella Population From 2016 to 2020 in Thai Canal Water

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 17, Issue 4, August 2025.
By employing whole genome sequencing to analyse 351 Salmonella genomes isolated between 2016 and 2020, the characteristics and antimicrobial resistance properties of Salmonella enterica found in Bangkok canals were elucidated. Among studied isolates, 39.0% were potentially multidrug‐resistant, and STs 34 and 213 found might have circulated between ...

The European Union summary report on antimicrobial resistance in zoonotic and indicator bacteria from humans, animals and food in 2017

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 17, Issue 2, February 2019., 2019
Abstract The data on antimicrobial resistance in zoonotic and indicator bacteria in 2017, submitted by 28 EU Member States (MSs), were jointly analysed by EFSA and ECDC. Resistance in zoonotic Salmonella and Campylobacter from humans, animals and food, and resistance in indicator Escherichia coli as well as meticillin‐resistant Staphylococcus aureus in

Genomics of human and chicken Salmonella isolates in Senegal: Broilers as a source of antimicrobial resistance and potentially invasive nontyphoidal salmonellosis infections.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2022
Salmonella enterica is the most common foodborne pathogen worldwide. It causes two types of diseases, a self-limiting gastroenteritis and an invasive, more threatening, infection.

The European Union summary report on antimicrobial resistance in zoonotic and indicator bacteria from humans, animals and food in 2022–2023

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 23, Issue 3, March 2025.
Abstract This report presents the main findings of the 2022–2023 harmonised antimicrobial resistance (AMR) monitoring in Salmonella spp., Campylobacter jejuni and Campylobacter coli from humans and food‐producing animals (broilers, laying hens and fattening turkeys, fattening pigs and cattle under 1 year of age) and derived meat.

Draft genome sequence of a CTX-M-15-producing endophytic Klebsiella pneumoniae ST198 isolate from commercial lettuce

open access: yesJournal of Global Antimicrobial Resistance, 2017
CTX-M-15-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae is one of the leading causes of hospital-acquired infections globally. In this study, we present the draft genome sequence of the first CTX-M-15-producing endophytic K. pneumoniae strain, belonging to sequence type 198 (ST198) and isolated from commercial lettuce, which can be used as a reference sequence for ...

Regulation of maize growth and immunity by ZmSKI3‐mediated RNA decay and post‐transcriptional gene silencing

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, Volume 66, Issue 11, Page 2561-2577, November 2024.
ZmSKI3 mediates the 3'‐5' degradation of RNAs. Knockout of ZmSKI3 leads to enhanced disease resistance and retarded plant growth, and overexpression of ZmSKI3 results in increased disease susceptibility, revealing the sophisticated regulation of plant growth and immunity by ZmSKI3‐mediated RNA decay and post‐transcriptional gene silencing in maize ...

Antimicrobial resistance and genomic characterization of Salmonella enterica isolates from chicken meat

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2023
This study investigated genotypic and phenotypic antimicrobial resistance profiles, phylogenic relatedness, plasmid and virulence composition of 39 Salmonella enterica strains isolated from chicken meat samples using whole genome sequencing (WGS ...

Retrospective study on the occurrence of Salmonella serotypes in veterinary specimens of Atlantic Canada (2012–2021)

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 10, Issue 4, July 2024.
This study highlights the carriage of uncommon Salmonella serovars among equine and wildlife animal species. Several serovars of Salmonella spp. displayed invasiveness. The wildlife serovars were susceptible to the commonly used antibiotics. The serovars Dublin from farmed mink and Typhimurium from porcine species were resistant to several antibiotics.
